One of my goals for this year has been to become more physically fit. After having two children, fifteen months apart in my late thirties, getting back into shape has been downright miserable for me. Walking was great, and so was swimming away the long hot Georgia summer, but now the boys are too big for a double stroller, and the lake we live on is downright cold.
As much fun as it was during the summers, it's just not possible to take a walk or swim in such cold weather. And while on the look out for more options to help me reach my goal, I found
trampoline workouts! I love it, my sons love it, and i couldn't ask for more. I can play with my kids, while I'm getting back into shape. Exercising has never been better.
We bought a trampoline for our sons about a year ago. They were having so much fun with it, and all the jumping and rolling began to strengthen their muscles. That's when i realized that I could use it too. It's an excellent way for me to spend more time with the boys, and jumping is a good exercise too!
But if only all things were perfect in this world. Our old dog was getting lonely, so we got him a new friend. Tinker is an adorable, friendly, and fun-loving yellow Labrador cross puppy. She's become so close with not just our old dog, but with my boys too. She trails us all day long, and that means, she's also an unwelcome guest during our trampoline workouts.
But even though I was dead scared that she might dig her little teeth into the trampoline, it was so cute to see her, standing on tip-toes, trying to reach the trampoline floor. It gave me a good laugh every time she did that.
She's now going through a phase where everything seems like a chew toy. And I was given the
responsibility of keeping her away from everything. Not easy. Her main target though was our dear trampoline. If she makes even a small hole in it, we'd have to replace the entire thing, and that isn't going to work well with my current budget.
So we tried some remedies to keep her away. My dad sent us a soft plastic snow fence from the North. But it didn't work very well. Tinker started chewing it too. Next we sprayed the fence with a pepper spray. But the rain came and washed it all away. After many such failed attempts, we finally found a solution. Simply fixing chicken wire around the trampoline worked! We even
made it look nice by planting flower beds around the mesh.
Since then, we've had no trouble with Tinker. She eventually gave up chewing the chicken mesh. But the jumping didn't stop, and a few flowers got hurt. But it was no big deal. It would have been more trouble if Tinker made holes in the trampoline floor. Now my workouts continue, and the kids are still having fun.
