Planning A Trip To Cambridge - Cambridgeshire

There is so much to do and see in Cambridge - Cambridgeshire that you can easily get lost for days in all of the events, activities, and sites. There is an event or festival almost every week the entire year round in Cambridge. A person can attend the Annual Musical Festival, Arts Festivals, a Shakespearean season, just to name a few.

The pulse of the city is alive with activity. Students from all of the colleges bring with them the electricity of excitement as they spend their afternoons in debate on corners and in pubs. The restaurants provide you with an international cuisine that is unsurpassed in most cities. The unique architectural features that are found throughout the city are breath taking and beautiful.

At St. Mary's Cathedral you will find another beautiful part of Cambridge. Climbing the narrow stairs of the tower you will be met with a glorious view of the entire city of Cambridge. There are many museums and galleries devoted to specific themes and activities that have taken place in Cambridge. The National History Museum offers an opportunity to see items retrieved during digs in and around Cambridge.

The forty acre Cambridge Botanical Garden provides a delightful respite from the busy and hectic surroundings of much of the city. You can walk along quiet paths and enjoy the flora and fauna of England. Opened to the public in'46, the garden boasts themed glass houses that take you from the tropics to the desert in displays of living plants. There are parkways, pathways, fountains, and beautiful mature trees covering this wonderful space.

Touring Cambridge is easily accomplished with one of the walking tours provided by the council or in an open top bus. You will see many of the points of interest that are often missed when one begins touring the city. There are many little bookshops, boutiques, and cafes that lie throughout the city and are treasures that are waiting to be discovered.

Taking to the River Cam for punting will add adventure and excitement to your trip. You can participate in punting or take a punting tour of the city. Seeing many of the sites from the river that you may miss if you do not get this unique view. Enjoying the theatre and arts throughout the city will provide you with both the old and new. Many modern galleries dot the city as well as galleries that provide the classics. The bookstores are amazing and there are some that you will find on the side streets that contain treasures you will not want to miss.

You will want to make reservation ahead to vacation in Cambridge and the prices will vary for your accommodations. Depending on the events, festivals, or activities that are taking place, the city can become very active and busy. The bed and breakfasts provide an opportunity to enjoy the hospitality of the people of Cambridge. Or, you may wish to stay in a larger hotel that overlooks the River Cam. The vacation will be marvelous when you visit and you will come away with some wonderful memories and experiences.
