Ice Age: In this animation comedy we find ourselves viewing the blight of the animals as the ice age is descending upon them. An unlikely quartet of animals, Manny the wooly mammoth, Sid the sloth, Diego the saber toothed tiger, and Scrat the prehistoric squirrel, must find their way to warmer places before the ice age ends their lives. They battle the element, and devious attacks from other animals to try and survive the ice age.
Inferno: American returns to N.Y. from school in Rome to examine the hideous death of his sibling, and finds "sinister moms" wreaking paranormal chaos on both sides of Atlantic. Surreal, spellbinding shocker by Italian terror maestro Argento doesn't make much sense, but it has a lot of style. Cast includes Leigh McCloskey, Irene Marvel, Sacha Pitoeff, Daria Nicolodi, Eleonora Giorgi, Veronica Lazar, and Alida Valli. (107 minutes,'84)
Rhythm Thief: Immediately fascinating and arrogant ultra low cost picture of a distant although afflicted Andrews, who lives on N.Y.C.'s dirty Lower East Side and makes his keep by marketing tapes of illicitly copied music. The film is intriguing and seductive at times. It was filmed in 11 nights, for $ 11,000. Cast includes Jason Andrews, Eddie Daniels, Kevin Corrigan, Kimberly Flynn, Sean Hagerty, Mark Alfred, Christopher Cooke, and Bob McGrath. (99 minutes,'95)
Believe in Me: Donovan moves to a tiny Oklahoma town in'64 to take a teaching job, although when he arrives he learns he's been assigned to coach the girls basketball team. What's more, the girls have no self respect and little help from the school. Genuine heartland tale ascends above its recognizable underdog recipe.
