This article talks about your holiday vacation in Italy and things to do while there.
Planning A Romantic Italian Holiday
Italy is usually the first place that comes to mind when you're thinking of a romantic holiday. Whether it's the history you'll see, the museums or its overall beauty, spending a holiday in Italy will be a memorable vacation. Whereas with many vacations we're wondering what we're going to do, that's not the case with Italy. Italy has so many things to see and do, you'll need an agenda just to see the things that interest you the most. The vacation will last much quicker than you'd like.
Italy Museums
Italy is infamous for having some of the best museums in the country. Even if you're spending a major holiday in Italy, you'll still want to see a museum. The Vatican probably has the most well known collections, including the Sistene Chapel. Everyone has heard of Michelangelo's famous ceiling, one of the most famous art pieces in the world. I can't imagine a holiday vacation in Italy and missing it. You'll need to plan at least one full day at the Vatican and you'll probably still not see everything you want to see. Another smaller museum you'll want to see is the Galleria Borghese. It may be small but it has many great art collections. If you're in Florence (and aren't busy taking their famous bicycle tours), check out the Galleria degli Uffizi. If you're a fan of the Renaissance, you'll love this place. If your destination is Venice, make a note to stop at the Gallerie dell?Accademia.
Churches in Italy You Won't Want to Miss
Italy has so many churches and cathedrals that you could spend an entire vacation visiting them and still not see them all. If you're time is limited, make sure to see St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. This church has the most beautiful architecture plus fascinating art like Michelangelo's Pieta, both of why it's the most famous church in Italy. If you're in Venice, you won't want to miss the Basilica di San Marco or the Duomo in Milan. The Duomo consists of 35 towers, which make it look like a fairy tale castle. Another must-see is the Duomo di Monreale.
Historical Places in Italy
What good would a vacation be without some sightseeing? Italy probably has some of the most famous historic sites. Rome is probably the city to be if you're interested in historic sites. Your entire family will love seeing the Colosseum, where the gladiators gave up their lives fighting. Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum are two monuments you won't want to miss. Italy just wouldn't be Italy without a ride in a gondola.
