A vacation is a time for laughter and relaxation for the whole family. It is a great opportunity to forget about your work and the kids school activities, and just concentrate on being with your kids.

Teaching your kids to pack their own things will make the vacation more exciting for them. It is better to assist your children when packing and ensure that they pack only what they actually need to bring along. Label each bag according to its owner. To maximize the usage of space and to pack more clothes in your backpack, tightly roll the clothes. Pack the light clothes before the heavy ones.

Don't forget to pack clothes that are appropriate for where you are going. For hot climates, don't forget to bring your sun hats, sunglasses and sun protection lotion. Pack extra swimsuits and t-shirts if you are planning for a swimming activity. Pack a jacket or sweatshirt and a pair of long pants for every member to wear in case you come across a cold night.

Bring plenty of games to keep the children busy during travel time. Choose games that are interactive so that there will be interaction in the family. Bring toys that can hold the attention of the younger children.

Packing some cookies and tetra pack drinks is good idea for long trips. If you have a baby or toddler, bring some diapers along. It is cheaper than buying on the road and you will be better prepared in case you need them. If you are into saving money - bring your own food rather than buying it on the way.

Always have a first aid kit and a flashlight with you when you are traveling. Bring extra batteries for the flashlight too. If a member of the family is taking daily medications, put these in a separate container. Don't forget to bring baby wipes for cleaning hands, faces and messes.

Make sure your camera is prepared and your batteries are charged. Consider buying a water proof camera if you will be going swimming. With pictures, you will be able to remember all the precious moments, including those that took place in the water.

Check your obligations and bills' due dates to avoid overdue payments. Don't rush but rather plan ahead before the day of vacation. And most important - don't forget to bring some cash. A well planned vacation will be a great time for the whole family.
