If you're planning a vacation to California, the first thing to do is to get informed about the areas of interest. Pick up California travel brochure, some maps and a few books about the state.

Although you're going on vacation and probably don't wish to deal with scheduling yourself and your family, it's still a good recommendation to have a well informed plan to maximize the time you have at your destination.

Of course, budgeting your vacation is also part of the planning process. Now that you know where you want to visit in California, and the mode of transportation, budgeting food and activities along with extra expenditures along the way is important.

This will help reduce some pressure of expense. If you have a good idea how much you are willing to spend and how much you actually have to spend, you will have peace of mind.

Next, determine mode of transportation. Will you fly or drive, rent a car or RV, etc. Figure your fuel costs verses air fare and car rental, mileage you will put on your own automobile and wear and tear on your tires. This will help you determine your transportation budget.

Once you've read or consulted with a travel agent regarding your vacation, it's time to decide upon the area that is of most interest to you and those you're traveling with.

Depending on how much time you have, you can visit many interesting places, amusement parks or camp grounds. There is also Disneyland, the state capitol, old town Sacramento, panning for gold in El Dorado hills, and many more activities. While you are in California, you also must visit the ocean. That is just a requirement, so don't even think about it. Just go.

Finally, pack your bags and head out to enjoy your California Vacation.
