Unspoilt beaches, breathtaking coastlines, lush mountainsides, a wealth of archeological sites history and nature working in perfect combination. That is Cyprus for you. Legend has it that Aphrodite rose from its very shores. Hence, this is also known as Aphrodite's Island. This lies in the Mediterranean Sea, just below Turkey.

Now, Cyprus beckons what fun awaits! Relaxing days filled with boundless beauty - this Mediterranean island has plenty of these. You will surely want to come back again and again, and Cyprus will welcome you with open arms.

One of the main attractions of Cyprus are its beaches. Indeed, the clear, warm and turquoise waters are particularly inviting, especially at the beaches in Ayia Napa and Protaras. Water-sports abound at Cyprus' many beaches - you can indulge in some snorkeling, kite-surfing and water-skiing. There are also some water parks you can enjoy with the whole gang or with the family.

Aside from the beach, Cyprus is also rich in natural beauty. There is Troodos mountains, which houses Mount Olympus (at its peak). You will find a number of hilltop villages that give off a relaxing atmosphere. Of course, these villages and its surrounding forests are havens where you can try some hiking, cycling and bird watching. Come winter, you can try the feel of powdery snow as you woosh down the ski slopes.

Cyprus also is home to some important historical and archeological structures and ruins. Some of these structures even go back to the Stone Age and the Roman Empire. Well-preserved Venetian walls grace the edges of Nicosia - the capital of Cyprus. Hamam Omerye is also an interesting site. It is a 14th Century bath house that was transformed into a church, a mosque until it was eventually renovated to its original use.

Cyprus is also all about castles and palaces - Kyrenia Caste, Kantara Castle and Vouni Palace. As for museums, you can find fascinating collections at the Guzelyurt Museum, the Byzantine Museum and the Shipwreck Museum.

Of course, Cyprus is also an excellent place to celebrate the nightlife. The beachfront promenades in Nicosia are great places to party the night away, complete with the buzzing neon lights and the music.
