For many the Cotswolds epitomise their vision of quintessential England. The glorious hotchpotch of honey coloured stone buildings, ancient rooftops and wonky gables all provide a wonderful backdrop for the many pretty cottages, charming pubs, traditional tearooms and unique art dealers that can be found in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Popular with both the English and foreign travellers alike the Cotswolds are famous for their gentle rolling hills and historic towns and delightful villages. Many come to the Cotswolds envisaging country walks, cycling along the highways and byways, exploring the wonderfully unique boutiques each charming town and village have to offer and relaxing with a fabulous cream tea or sitting in front of an open fire at the end of the day.

Although the immaculate gardens, quaint shops and charming pubs might give the impression of a laid-back lifestyle, don't under-estimate what's on offer in the Cotswolds. No matter what age, gender or interests, the Cotswolds will undoubtably have plenty to interest you!

The Cotswolds is a great holiday destination for families. Maybe take in a play at the world-renowned Shakespeare Theatre at Stratford-Upon-Avon or visit the Rare Breed Farm Park. Or, for the sporty-types, the Cotswold Water Park is a must-visit - offering everything from wind-surfing to wake-boarding... all surrounded by a beautiful nature reserve.

Although there are many holiday destinations with a range of activities available, most concentrate on introducing people to the variety of activities and so their offerings are usually basic or entry-level in nature. The Cotswolds, though, is perfect for all ages, abilities and interests.

Whilst in the Cotswolds, there are always people nearby to help you investigate a new hobby... or simply hand over the reigns to the more experienced. Whether you're looking for a quiet ride through the beautiful Cotswold countryside on horseback, or after a fast gallop on your own hack, you'll never be far away from somewhere that can arrange it for you!

The Cotswolds are a great holiday destination all year round. During the Spring you can catch the lambing season at the Cotswold Farm Park and the beautiful snowdrops at the Painswick Rococo Gardens. The Summer is the perfect time to visit the country walks and gardens. Westonbirt Arboretum is perfect during the Autumn when the leaves are beginning to fall, and the various Christmas markets make the Winter a great time to visit too!

There are a large number of events for which the Cotswolds are known (often worldwide) too, so make sure you check online to see what events are happening before you visit. The Royal Air Tattoo is held at Fairford in July and attracts aircraft and crowds from all over the world. The Cheltenham Gold Cup is held at Cheltenham Racecourse in March and there's even the famous Cheese Rolling at Coopers Hill on Spring Bank Holiday!

What is more, if you are looking for a place for a family get together or meeting up with old friends the Cotswolds is centrally located and can be reached in less than 2 hours from London. Often finding the time to meet up with old friends in today's hectic world is trouble enough, without spending half of your holiday travelling.

Not only is the Cotswolds a great location with great activities - it's also excellent value for money! Particularly if there's a large group of you... why not book a large Cotswold cottage and go away together?

Covering over 790 square miles, you will never be short of anything to do in the Cotswolds. There is adventure for everyone, the trick is to fit it all in!
