Addicted to Love: This movie is a dark comedy which where we see an ex-boyfriend, and an ex-girlfriend spying on their former partners. They find themselves teamed together, with the young lady planning acts of revenge for her former man. Meg Ryan, Matthew Broderick, Kelly Preston, and Tcheky Karyo star. (1997 dark comedy directed by Griffin Dunne)
Deep Space: An extraterrestrial-like being runs amok. Here is an ltra hokey sci-fi thriller with joke overtones. Napier is impeccably cast as a cop on its track. This is excellent fun for genre fans. Incidentally, the title has nothing to do with the film! Cast includes Charles Napier, Ann Turkel, Julie Newmar, James Booth, Ron Glass, Anthony Eisley, Bo Svenson, and Peter Palmer. (90 minutes, 1987)
Dying Young: Aimless youthful lady retorts a newspaper ad and gets to be nurse/friend to a 28-yearold meager-little-opulent-boy who's agonizing from leukemia; useless to affirm, they fall in love. As car for Roberts' charms, it works; as love tale it has its minutes; however as a tearjerker it by no means seriously transfers, drifting toward an inconclusive and unsatisfying finale. Scott shares a few scenes with his genuine-life mom, Dewhurst. Cast includes Julia Roberts, Scott, Vincent Donofrio, David Selby, and Ellen Bursty. (105 minutes, 1991)
Candyman: Helen Lyle is a University of Illinois student looking for ideas for her thesis on urban legends.. She becomes interested in the Candyman legend. Candyman was a son of slaves who died at the hand of a hired gang sent to kill him because he got a girl pregnant. They set angry bees loose on him, and then was burnt to death. The legend states that if you say his name 5 times in front of a mirror, Candyman comes to life. Candyman does appear, and Helen finds herself in big trouble.
Jury of One: Trudging melodrama in reference to a lady who goes to shocking extremes to guard her child, on trial for slay and rape. Gabin plays the magistrate. Cast includes Sophia Loren, Jean Gabin, Henri Garcin, Julien Bertheau, and Michel Albertini. (97 minutes, 1974)
