Going camping is such a wonderful family bonding activity. If you are going to take children with you, it will give them some lifelong memories that they will never forget. Anyone who went family camping as a kid can probably attest to that. No matter what the weather ends up like or what you actually do during the trip, it is usually a great adventure when you are a child.

Don't forget to bring the most important supplies. You will need to bring a tent unless you are planning to rent a cabin or stay in a RV. You will definitely want some kind of minimal shelter for you and your family. Depending on where you are staying, there are many potential things you may want better shelter from.

Some of the absolutely necessary tools of camping are pillows, flashlights, sleeping bags, batteries, a hatchet and chairs. If you are going to be camping in a tent, consider getting yourself an inflatable air mattress. It will really improve the entire trip if you get a decent nights rest.

Think ahead so you have the necessary supplies for starting a campfire. Gather old newspapers or thinner cardboard boxes. Take a lighter and matches. I like to bring both a camping saw and a hatchet. I also like to take my own wood. You might not be allowed to bring in your own wood depending on where you are going to be camping. Some states have regulations about it because of diseases.

You are going to need to consider how you are going to prepare your meals. Think about packing a cooler for food, propane stove and tanks, silverware, plates, soap, a dish rag and a plastic tub for cleaning dishes. Not every park has a place for campers to wash dishes. I usually buy paper and plastic dinner wares.

Consider what kinds of clothing you will likely need for the trip. If you are going hiking be sure you have some comfy hiking boots. You don't want sore feet. Bring a couple pairs of shorts if it will be warm and jeans otherwise. Your clothes may get dirty or ripped so don't bring your best clothes. Don't forget to include a swim suit, rain poncho, sweatshirt and a hat. Those are must have clothes for any camping trip.

Remember to bring your personal bathroom products for you and your loved ones. Pack all of the essentials into convenient bags. Make sure you bring cue tips, bars of soap, shampoo, deodorant, razors, and shaving cream. Don't forget to pack contact lens supplies if someone wears them. Don't forget to pack enough towels for everyone. If you intend to be gone more than a couple days, you are going to want something to hang the towels on for drying purposes. Don't forget to bring any necessary medicines.

Some other stuff that you should bring to make the camping trip even better would include a pocket knife, some kind of lantern, binoculars, digital cameras, bug spray, marshmallows and chocolate bars, bottled water, cocktails, stogies, Aloe Vera lotion, bandages, sun tan lotion and .

Bring toys for the little maniacs. You are going to have a lot more fun on your trip if the children have plenty of things to occupy their time. Besides, half the reason you are going camping is for them to have fun too. Bring a football, softball, Frisbee and a kite. Bring anything that can be done safely outdoors. Make the most of the wide open spaces in most campgrounds.

Why not create a personalized camping checklist? There are going to be things that you think are important that I haven't listed. Make a thoughtful list of your own, so you won't forget anything important. Some people can't go anywhere without taking a cell phone, their bike or their laptop.
