Just like the states south of it, the state of Washington is becoming a top producer of quality American wines. The quality level of the grapes grown in the northwestern US are creating a new export industry for its farmers. Year after year, the wineries form the greater Washington area receive more and more wine industry awards. Their wonderful state is very well suited for growing premium vines. Local winery owners invite you to taste their wines and take a tour of their operations.

The (World|Worlds Fair was in Seattle Washington back in the early 1960's. As a grand project for the event the awesome Space Needle was built. There is an elevator that takes you up 520 feet to the observation deck of the Space Needle where you get a whole different outlook on the Seattle Washington skyline. At the very top of the needle is a nice restaurant called SkyCity. The whole restaurant rotates so you can see Seattle from every angle possible. The food there regularly receives excellent reviews.

When it comes to farmers markets the people of Seattle know how to do it. Seattle's Pike Place Market is the one of the most impressive farmers markets you will ever see. Tourists come from all over to see all of the unique shops and stands as well as artists and musicians. All in this one place you can buy quality antiques, foreign imported items, fresh food, deserts, wine, cheeses and all kinds of other local treats.

One of the more interesting tourist attractions in the Seattle area is the Native American Tillicum Village. It is a place here history comes alive. You will learn all kinds of excellent information regarding the early settlers of this part of the United States. Native Americans perform historic dances that have been passed down through generations of Native Americans. It is a very unique place.

While in Seattle you should try to find out what it is like to ride on a ferry. From the water, you can see awesome views of the Cascade and Olympic mountains. You will get a great wide angle view of the famous Seattle skyline. It should be very impressive after sundown. Ferries are available for sightseeing travelers.

Common among other popular US destinations is the local city zoo. You can see an assortment of animals and other exhibits there. It is the perfect place to take the kids for a day. Check out the elephants and giraffes. They also have some activities that zoo goers can participate in such as feeding the giraffes and making African bead bracelets. It makes for a peaceful and relaxing afternoon.

If you plan your visit far enough ahead of time, you may be able to get seats at one of Seattle's major sports team games. The Seattle Seahawks put on a great show in their relatively modern Qwest Field stadium. You can visit the Key Arena in the Seattle Center to see the Seattle Storm WNBA basketball team or the Seattle Sonics NBA team. Safeco field is home to the Seattle Mariners Major League Baseball team.

Spend a Saturday bumming around the Seattle area microbreweries. For men, what could be more enticing? You can choose from a variety of lagers, ales and stouts ranging from light to full bodied. Make sure you try an ESB (extra special bitters) ale served at the Redhook Ale Brewery.
