The Wimbledon Winners

The title of Wimbledon (tennis) winners is an honorable thing to hold. This competition is world renowned. There are many different events that you can compete in to become a winner of the event. These different events receive a big award and are upheld as the elite in tennis players.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club hosts the tennis championships for all participants and the Wimbledon (tennis) winners. This championship has been taking place in England for many years. This is the most prestigious tennis event around the world and an honor to be a part of it. The Wimbledon tournament is a part of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments and the oldest of the four. This tournament is also still played on a grass court. This event occurs every year for more than two weeks from late June through early July.

The way the matches are set up for the ladies and the men are the best of five sets. All other events that take place at the tournament are the best of three sets. If the score is a tie then there will be a tie breaker game. The Wimbledon (tennis) winners are those individuals that have the most matches of the sets.

The Gentlemen's final is the longest event. It lasts for nearly 5 hours of play. Last year in 2008, the event went for more than 7 hours due to weather conditions. Wimbledon (tennis) winners of the gentlemen's event are held up high because this is the most prestigious event. This event begins with strawberries and cream. The Gentlemen's events include the singles, which is a 128 draw and the Gentlemen's doubles which is a 64 draw. The winners of the singles event win more than $1 million dollars in award money and a silver gilt cup that is 18.5 inches high and 7.5 inches wide. The Gentlemen's doubles will more than $300,000 and a silver cup.

There are also women's events that take place at Wimbledon. These events include Ladies singles and Ladies doubles. The singles event is a 128 draw and the doubles is a 64 draw. The awards for the ladies Wimbledon (tennis) winners are the same as the men with a cash prize and a silver cup.

Other than these high profile events, there are a number of other events which are held at the Wimbledon tournament. Even at the world's top tennis event, there are opportunities for many players to compete. Junior's tournaments are a part of the Wimbledon tournaments, with singles and doubles events for both boys and girls. Additionally, there are invitation matches, Round Robin tournaments for men, women and seniors and even a 4-pairs wheelchair tournament. Being the winner of any event at Wimbledon is a very great honor.

The winners of the events at Wimbledon are among the world's best tennis players; and the tournament always features some of the biggest names in the sport. The trophies (as well as the prize money) are coveted by every professional player ? but even going home from Wimbledon with a consolation prize is still an honor.
