Types Of Sand Yachts

Catamaran sailing is not something you'll learn on the regular sailing programs, since most navigation practice is carried out on monohulls. The reason for such measures is the higher difficulty to operate multihulls as it is the case with the catamaran. Sailing experience combined with personal enthusiasm will eventually help one sail a catamaran, and enjoy the stability, the speed and the challenge of such a boat.

What elements are there to consider for one who is ready to invest in sailing gear? First of all, gloves and special foot wear like dinghy boots for example, top the list. Then, there is the life jacket and the foul weather sailing gear. The latter includes both pants and jacket that checks humidity. And last but not least, there are the wet and dry suits that should not miss from the sailor's wardrobe; they keep you warm even in water or on very cold weather.

The most common mistake people make on their first sailing vacations is to pack way too much. Casual is the word to describe life on an island, so you won't be needing fancy clothes and all sorts of gadgets. Sailing vessels impose limitations in terms of storage space, and hard-sided luggage are surely not a good idea to take with you. Go for canvas or duffel bags that can be folded into occupying less room. Small baggage that can be taken with you on the plane also save you the trouble of having to deal with lost luggage when you arrive on the island.

Widely spread in the entire Oceania and Polynesia, catamaran sailing had a great influence on the design of leisure boats with multiple hulls. The power engine represents the alternative to wind and water current power in catamaran propelling, but the true feeling of the sea is achieved by knowing the winds and decoding the message of the waves.

There are many types of sand yachts used for land sailing, and according to their distinct features, such vehicles compete in variety of classes. Thus, the biggest yachts in land sailing competitions are known as Class 2. All of them have very large masts with big sails that lend significant power to the vehicles; yet, the size could be an impediment to reaching high speed. More popular than Class 2 is Class 3 that is very similar in design, but on a smaller scale. Designed according to high-tech principles, such yachts make land sailing really fast. Usually made of fiberglass, Kevlar and carbon fiber, these vehicles will get a 60miles per hours during a race.

Hand Tools: Basic Needs For Home Improvement

By Neil Wenk

Tools for Home Improvement

Great home improvement projects and woodworking projects can be completed in a small workshop without investing a lot of money in tools. A few basic quality tools can help the amateur craftsman or home fix-it person. This means that tools should no longer be an obstacle to a homeowner when he or she is considering some do-it-yourself home improvement tasks. Give some serious thought to acquiring these hand tools to start on the path toward home improvement.

Safety should be a primary consideration when thinking about home improvements, so the first purchases should probably include goggles, ear protection and breathing masks. From this point it would be wise to start the collection of small hand tools with such simple items as a wire brush, good paintbrushes and similar items. A stiff-bristled brush for removing dust and small debris is always a good idea as well, especially if the work will involve renovating walls and floors.

Consider Stanley tools when thinking about small, quality hand tools and home improvement items. This traditional company has manufactured tools, measuring devices and home improvement products of the highest quality for many years. A good solid hammer and a power drill (cordless is always a great option) will also be nice additions to the workshop or home project, without breaking the bank.

Repairs to interior walls or ceilings will require the previously mentioned drill, a few good screwdrivers, hammer, scraper, pliers and other hand tools. The Leatherman company manufactures many of these items and has offered high-quality hand tools and smaller items for the craftsman for many years. Homeowners also find that a stud finder and a wallboard knife are good items to have around for wall and ceiling work.

It is generally a good idea to purchase the necessary tools and supplies as needed, rather than spending a great deal of money for tools that may be used in the future. For instance, if the homeowner plans to work with panel walls, it may be good to start filling the tool box with a hammer, utility knife, framing square, small nails, rubber mallet and similar items. A different set of tools and supplies will be necessary if the work will involve floor tiles or plaster walls. Talk with the professionals a home improvement store or hardware supplier to get a better idea what will be needed.

Here is a partial list of items that may be needed for home improvement tasks:

Paint roller Edger Sponges Sander/sandpaper Putty knife

Extensive home improvement jobs may require only a few different tools to complete a job since many tools can be used for several tasks. You may be able to rent larger tools and equipment for a one-time project. If the home improvement projects include lawn maintenance or landscape renovation, the wise homeowner will add a good rake, wheelbarrow and similar items to the list. Outdoor property improvement is an area that requires specific tools and small equipment, but many homeowners have found this to be a great way to save money and enjoy working outdoors. Whether the home improvement task is indoors or outdoors, a few good basic tools make the task not only possible but also easier.

Stop! Don't Go On a Cruise With a Baby Until You Read This

By Brooklyn Sterritt

Going on a family cruise with a young baby can be a wonderful trip. We know because we just came back from a Caribbean cruise with our 10 month old daughter.

There is some planning to be done beforehand, but the planning is well worth the effort. There are many things that you will need for your baby on the cruise vacation. Here is our list of the top 10 must things to have on a cruise vacation with a young baby.

1. The most valuable thing that we took with us was our stroller. Our daughter loves being in the stroller and it was also great that our stroller folds - that way it was easy to take on an airplane, and it didn't take up much room in our cabin on the cruise ship. We used the stroller all the time. Every morning we walked our daughter on the promenade deck; we used the stroller every day to go to the ship's pools and dining rooms; we even used in the evening so that we can all enjoy the exciting evenings on board. Every evening after dinner we bathed our daughter, then put her in pyjamas, and then placed her back into her stroller. We then walked the ship with her, went to some clubs on the ship with her and before long she would fall fast asleep.

2. Make sure that you have enough diapers for your baby during the vacation - but don't bring them from home. First figure out before you leave how many diapers your child go through in a normal day - and then multiply that number by the number of days on your vacation. If your vacation involves air travel (like ours did) you won't want to have to bring the diapers from home - if you do that means that they will have to be checked as checked baggage. Instead, do what we did. Our ship cruised out of Fort Lauderdale in Florida. We had time from when our flight arrived in Florida to when we had to be on the ship. So from the airport we took a cab to a nearby Target store and purchased the diapers that we needed for the cruise and some other baby supplies before getting another taxi to the ship.

3. One thing to do on a cruise ship - especially when it is hot is to go to the kiddies pool with your child and cool off in the pool. In order for your child to go into the pool they have to wear swim diapers or they have to be toilet-trained.

4. Our baby is on formula so we brought on board with us enough formula for the cruise. We opted to bring powdered formula since it is less bulky than formula that is already mixed. Again, we didn't bring it from home, we purchased the required formula in Florida when we bought our diapers. Keep in mind that any formula entering the ship must be sealed & in the original container.

5. Being able to boil water during the trip was important to us since we wanted to have safe water to mix with the powdered formula. In order to make it easy to boil water we brought a kettle with us with an automatic shut-off.

6. Baby's food is obviously very important. We brought a formula dispenser with us. We did this so that we could fill several bottles with clean water and when it was time for a bottle for our daughter we just had to pour the pre-measured formula into the water and give the bottle a shake.

7. Not having a spot to put your dirty diapers will cause some problems with odor in your cabin on the ship. Let your room steward know that you will have some smelly diapers - he will come to your room more often to remove them. And we took with us scented bags for putting the dirty diapers. They really helped control the odors in our room, and they were also useful on our air flight. They can be purchased at a dollar store or Babies r Us.

8. You'll need soap for bathing your baby. Eventhough most ship cabins won't have a tub for bathing your child - you can still do what we did. We plugged the drain on the shower and put enough water in the shower in order to give our baby her bath.

9. Make sure that you bring something to protect your baby from the heat and sun, especially if you plan on spending much time in the sun with your child during the cruise. Before we left home we purchased a lightweight sun cabana. We used the cabana on two beaches and on the pool deck near the kiddies pool. It kept us and our baby comfortable and protected from the sun. To rent a cabana on the private island that our ship stopped would have cost us about $90. The cabana that we brought with us cost less than $50 and we use it all the time.

10. Zip lock bags - these are great for everything - snack holders, put really dirty/soiled clothes away until you get home. Use for things that leak - (ex. medicine). Use the bags on the ship to pack bibs, spoons to go for dinner so when they are dirty you can throw in the bag & clean when you get back to your room.

There are more items to consider, but start your list with these essentials items.

Exercises For The Mini Trampoline

By Jane Bracken

Mini trampoline exercises are a great way to lose weight and keep you fit. But along with the exercises you should maintain a healthy diet as well. These exercises should be performed three to four days a week to achieve the best result.

Before starting any exercise on the mini trampoline, you should do the warm up exercises to prevent any injury or muscle pull.
The purpose of warm-up exercises is ensuring your bodyas muscles are warmed up and ready for the workout. Cool-down exercises allow your muscles to wind down after working them so hard.

Trampoline contact bounce is a good warm up and cool down exercise. To do contact bounce, keep your feet shoulder-width apart with slightly bent knees and put your hands on your waistline. Bounce gently without your feet leaving the mat.

Another effective warm up exercise is the trampoline foot tap. Keeping your body in the same position used for the trampoline contact bounce, shift your weight to one side. Tap your other foot to the side and start bouncing steadily.

Now the best exercise to start with is the lower body stretch. In this exercise you place your feet shoulder-width apart and put your hands behind your back. Now, bend over as if you were going to touch your toes. Hold this position for thirty seconds and repeat the movement ten times.

Another effective exercise is the floor stretch. To do this exercise, sit on the floor with legs stretched apart. While keeping that position, pull your torso towards one thigh. Hold the position for thirty seconds and repeat on the other side.

Knee raise is a very good exercise for weight loss. To do this exercise, raise one knee to just above the waistline. Keep bouncing while raising your knee. Repeat the exercise on each side ten times and then resume the steady contact bounce.

After exercising, it is very important to cool down. Cool down helps you prevent unwanted injuries. If you use this trampoline exercise program three to four times and keep healthy eating habits, you should start to see weight loss results in six to eight weeks.

As A Tourist, Think Outside The Bus

As A Tourist, Think Outside The Bus

When most people think of being a tourist, the first thought that comes to mind is a bus, a large group of people and a whole bunch of cameras clicking away at the same building or statue. Others may see a family trip on which the kids are subjected to history and culture lessons from dad and mom. But there is a slightly different way to look at the idea of taking a holiday trip.

With some careful planning and a bit of research into destinations, the enthusiastic traveler can put together a tour that will take them away from some of the more common sightseeing destinations. This type of trip could include camping in a tent or small camper, but it might also include the use of a more luxurious recreational vehicle. In either case, countries all over the world offer a variety of wonderful opportunities to enjoy both natural and man-made beauty.

For those who have enjoyed many of the natural wonders of the United States, for example, the Rocky Mountains of Canada offer a tantalizing option for your holiday accommodations. In fact, this area of the North American continent is ideal for every level of tourism, from primitive camping to luxurious lodging in some of the most beautiful spots in the world. However, scenic beauty and tourist luxury are not limited to the western half of the U.S. northern neighbor. Many travelers have found that the forests, lakes and hiking trails of eastern Canada are similar to those found in the New England States, but are just different enough to provide new options.

Many tourists have made their way through the countries of the European continent, but most have missed some of the gems of nature to be found in Germany, Greece and other locations. For example, the Black Forest of Germany has something for everyone, including large, beautiful lakes. Water sports and leisure activities abound in this popular destination. Camping, whether in a tent or a camper, is an ideal way to get close to nature in this stunning region. Many visitors plan to ride horses or hike to best enjoy the scenery. Others take on the challenge of rock and mountain climbing, a very popular pastime.

Most world travelers would not think of Greece as an "outdoor" destination. While thousands visit this Mediterranean beauty each year, most probably take advantage of planned tours and hotel accommodations as regular part of their trip. But the great beauty of the Greek landscape may best be enjoyed while staying in one of the select motor home areas. This will get the traveler much closer to the seashore, cliffs and beaches. Even the camper can easily make his or her way to the historical sites and larger cities.

Don't leave the United Kingdom off your list of possible camping and hiking destinations! From the Scottish highlands to the windswept seacoasts of the south, the islands offer magnificent scenery and excellent hiking. Camping provides a very affordable option for those who want to see the world but want the experience to be slightly different.

A Bunk Bed is a space-saving, cost-cutting way to accommodate.

By Todd Martin

Double your kids' fun with a custom bedroom idea that's twice the comfort, twice the excitement, and twice the convenience of any other - custom kids bunk beds. Whether you're decorating a kids room meant to be shared by siblings or a bedroom for just one kid who happens to have frequent overnight guests, a bunk bed is a space-saving, cost-cutting way to accommodate. Also siblings don't always get along, but when they do it's an unbreakable bond like no other. Giving your siblings a bunk bed to share is one way to help foster that kind of closeness you crave for them. Sleeping above or below one's brother or sister is a precious shared life experience the two of them will cherish for the rest of their lives?

The two individual beds in bunk beds are as distinct as the two individuals sleeping there. The top bunk offers a bird's eye perspective on world, a far-reaching vantage point that's open and expansive. The bottom bunk offers a canopy style sheltering effect that provides a sense of privacy and of safety and security, like sleeping in a den. Chances are, if you have two kids, one will resonate more with the former and the other with the latter. If not, if they both like both experiences, then the siblings can take turns, switching off top and bottom bunks as regularly and frequently as they wish.

Size is a very significant factor, while selecting a bunk bed. Majority of bunk beds come in twin over twin size but twin over twin bunk beds and full over full are also available. There are some advantages to having one over the other but it really comes down to the comfort of your kids. A twin size may be too small for a grown-up child, while a full size can take up a bit of room as they are quite huge. Make up your mind on what size your kids require.

Bunk beds help even the most lackadaisical kids to get at least a moment of exercise. Climbing up and down the ladder of a bunk bed helps build strength in the arms and legs, gives a brief cardiovascular boost, and helps kids develop better muscular coordination. And if you shop for your twin over twin bunk beds online you'll be pleasantly surprised by the prices you can find. There are some very good quality cheap bunk beds around in places you wouldn't have thought of. It's the same as with so many products now. Low overheads mean that sellers can sell cheaply online, and still make a profit. So if you're looking for cheap bunk beds do so online, you'll be surprised at how cheap those bunk beds can be.

Lasting Holiday Memories Start with Christmas Jammies and Socks

By Edie Mindell

Let me take you back a few years. It is Christmas Eve. You are running about the house pausing every few moments to strain your ears for any sound resembling sleigh bells, flight or a boisterous 'ho, ho, ho'. What you do hear is mom calling that it is time to open a gift.

The first gift

You race as fast as you can to the tree. You hardly dare believe your ears: open a gift, now, tonight? Older siblings greet the news with less enthusiasm, and rather knowing expressions. Missing these subtle clues you tear into your box expecting to find the toy of your dreams. What you get are PJ's.

Your childish heart is only momentarily dampened, older siblings dive into new jammies with familiarity and gratitude. This scene repeats every year. You can mark holidays in photos by what jammies you are wearing, not the gift you open.

A New Night Dress

Flash forward; you are the parent creating and contemplating holiday traditions. As you and your spouse begin a family the need for holiday traditions becomes more personal and warm. Your baby may not remember opening a red pair of footie PJ's, but the photos will tell the story.

Christmas pajamas are a great way to curb, control or reward your toddler's Christmas enthusiasm. Knowing there is a special gift under the tree that they get to open on Christmas Eve will occupy their attention and relieve pestering questions of, "When can I open my presents?"...or "Can't I open just one?"

The practical side

As a toddler or child, it may not have occurred to you that your yearly gift of pajamas was not only fun, but practical. Christmas is in winter, and kids grow so fast. Often there is a need for warm pajamas that fit, which perfectly coincides with the advent of the holiday season. Making the necessary item into a fun tradition is a great way to meet two needs with one solution.

Toddler appeal

New parents might worry that their toddler will be less than pleased with this gift and feel cheated on Christmas Eve. This feeling of being slighted may lead their precious toddler to spoil the holiday spirit with a full-blown tantrum! Well, this is not usually the case. Toddlers just love to open gifts. They might show a preference for one toy over another once they are all opened, but if there is only one gift opened this is not an issue.

Toddlers also love to be included with what their parents or older siblings are doing. If mom, dad as well as brothers and sisters all get jammies, then your two year old is not going to be disappointed.

Types of Airsoft Guns

Sunday, December 28, 2008 · 0 comments

By Alexander Malroy

Give me cover fire I will take on that sniper on the cliff Well we can imagine the rush and the excitement that crawls through the veins. Yes, Airsoft is typical game resembling the actual war zone and the players can feel the extreme rush of Adrenaline. This explains the growing popularity of the game. Stepping out of the old fashioned paintball games, the ammunitions and the guns have very well fit in the Airsoft arena.

But apart from the playing field and the rules of the game, another popular feature of airsoft is its guns. When you first see one you can easily be fooled into thinking that they are real life guns but after close inspection, you will soon find out that they are simply made out of plastic. This does not mean however that the entire composition of the gun is just plastic, as it also has other metal parts where there are sensitive mechanisms that need to be protected as well. Moreover, airsoft guns also come in different types.

Spring Airsoft " This is known as the most basic type of airsoft gun and also considered to be entry level in the sport. The spring airsoft is also very easy to operate and for the most part requires manual control. Thus, the gun uses no other external powers such as electricity or batteries to keep it performing.

The Airsoft guns are made out of plastic however, they the not entirely made up of plastic. There are many metal parts with sensitive mechanism and if they are maintained well they can last for a very long time. There are different types of Airsoft guns to choose from. Let us have a look at them.

Electric Airsoft " As the name implies, this type of gun already makes use of electricity to keep it firing up. They are also very popular in Japan yet still made readily available. The electric airsoft is fired through the use of an electric motor which conveniently works inside to shoot out the loaded pellets. Compared to the spring airsoft, the electric type already has an automated cocking action. Plus, there are also many different variants now made available in the gaming market.

Gas-powered Airsoft " For more advanced players, the gas-powered airsoft is preferred especially if you want to experiment on the pressures and control of the gun. This airsoft gun specifically uses gas in its pressurized form to propel forth the BB or the airsoft pellets with additional force.

The gas powered blow back version is the most popular among the expert despite its high cost against non-blow back. This is primarily because the speed that the gas powered blow back incurs immediately right on the chamber to prepare for another fire. This means that you can count on multiple gunfire or a rapid succession of pellets for a more effective hit and a close simulation of the real thing.

There are two versions of the Gas-powered Airsoft guns. One is blowback and the other is non-blowback. In the blowback version, the gas is blown back on the chamber which makes the gun ready for another shot immediately. This is a very costly version of the gun. There is yet another version of the Airsoft guns and is known as Hybrid Airsoft. It has the automatic features of the electric gun and also has other advanced feature. This type rolled out in the market in 2006.

Methods of Playing Airsoft: Learning the Game

Saturday, December 27, 2008 · 0 comments

By Alexander Malroy

There are several methods of playing airsoft and only you can choose which one is right for you. The main objective to the game is to have fun and enjoy time with your opponents. Be the last one standing with these methods below.

The MilSim, short for Military simulation is a method of Airsoft playing game that blends military live-action role-playing scenarios. Each team is assigned tasks or missions to accomplish. They are provided with ample supply of ammunition (pellets), batteries, food or rations, gears, uniforms and other safety equipment. Sometimes, equipments such as headsets and radios are being provided; other times, players have the discretion to bring their own communication equipment.

The players are however free to get their own communication set. This variant of the game can last for a number of days and depends solely upon the length of the mission and the planning. The players need to stay on the field until the duration of the field game and are allowed getting back to the neutral areas on during the times of medical emergency. When the military simulations are large scale like that of the BERGET in Sweden, the MilSim lasts for weeks and the players can make use of the military vans and other vehicles. Surprisingly tanks are also used at times.

The Skirmish Operations Skirmish operations were the most popular type of play among the airsoft gun enthusiasts. Players may choose from different variations of schemes apart from the real battle itself. The players utilize hi-capacity magazines and typically dressed in BDUs. Their airsoft guns ranges from cheap to expensive ones, as the event can take place anywhere where the two opposing teams may consider appropriate to their playing needs such as woods, abandoned warehouse, factories or a farm.

This form of the game can be played in warehouses which are abandoned or other abandoned factories and farms. This is basically scheme gaming and in not played in the war fields. The Skirmish Operations is very popular because it can be played in spacious places and is easy to conduct. Imitating quarter battle, the game can be very interesting when played in scenarios like the urban settlements or jungle confrontation.

Yet another form of the Airsoft games is the Honor system. In this form, the player needs to admit that they are hit. In the other forms, the referees play a crucial role. With the plastic pellets no one can understand if a player has been hit or not. In MilSim and Skirmish Operations, the referees decide.

Marshals or referees play a vital role in every game. Bullets fired from a distance sometimes are not being sensed by a player mainly due to the action or just being distracted or running doggedly. Marshals determine and decide the matter of hit or miss. However, honest declaration if being hit is encouraged because no one can really monitor the exact happenings of the game played on the field. Simulation on knife kills can be performed depending on the venue of the game. This can be executed if a player taps an unaware opponent during the game. This method prevents an unaware opponent of accidentally shooting point-blank at the enemy within close range as he is being surprised by the stealth.

Players are advised not to shoot their weapons blindly when they are not able to see their opponents. Players should avoid shooting further opponents who surrendered and are already "dead." Harsh comments and language are also being prohibited as well as physical contact. Such acts are penalized; disagreements are expected to be resolved with appropriate rules and etiquette.

The Associated Costs of Playing Airsoft

By Alexander Malroy

Airsoft was introduced in Japan during the 1950s where it was very hard to get any kind of firearms. This game was the invention of gun owners and it is still hugely popular in the Southeast Asia. It is increasingly gaining popularity in Europe and the United States as well.

Generally there are three kinds of airsoft games. The most popular of the three games is skirmishing. These are also referred to as battles in close quarters. The other two types include replays of history as well as military simulations. It is necessary that at the time of the game a referee or a Marshall be present to notify when someone has been struck.

Safety is important when using airsoft guns. Protective lenses should always be worn. From a close distance airsoft guns can break the skin and leave bruises. Most airsoft guns are operated by an electric motor powered by a battery. Other airsoft guns use gas or a manual cocking ring.

Airsoft guns are relatively cheaper than its predecessor, the paintball. An airsoft gun could cost roughly $15 to $90 USD while the expensive hi-end ones could cost $200 to $500 USD. On a military simulation or historical re-enactment games, where the adherence to a more realistic-looking weapons are sought after, the cost of guns can rise significantly. Custom-made airsoft guns can reach up to $2,000 USD while realistic blowback guns in gas-powered fashion could reach $150 to $500 USD.

Airsoft guns look like real guns in their make. The airsoft guns are bought after looking into a number of factors such as the battery, range, life, how far it shoots, and a number of other factors. Another important factor to be kept in mind while selecting the weapons is realism. The most popular kind of airsoft guns is the Automatic electric guns, or AEG. These are also most commonly used. These guns come with batteries that can be recharged and built to last for a very long time.

Most of the airsoft pistols can be powered by gas and use propane. The pistols make available a real like blowback effect at the time of firing. There are now a number of airsoft manufacturers that use propane adapting units that are screwed onto the propane tanks. The users can also take the help of grenade launchers, grenades and similar such equipments that uses compressed gas for the purpose of explosions. All these help to further create an atmosphere of realism.

Airsoft guns use pellets that are known as BBs. These generally measure around 6mm in width. However for special weapons these can be 8mm in width. The pellets used are low grade and can be obtained for $3.50 for 5,000 pellets. These cheap pellets are however imperfect and do not promise very good performance. These might cause damage to airsoft guns. The high grade pellets are available at $15 USD for 5,000.

Like every sport there are costs, both small and large, but it is worth it as this game is fun. Get started today; form a team and see for yourself how much enjoyment and exercise you can get out of this great sport.

Are you having difficulty finding the right gift for that certain person this year? Does he or she already have everything you can think of, or just go get what they want for themselves? Well, how about a beer gift basket? As long as you know that they like beer and snacks, then you can be sure that they would like a well stocked beer basket.

Beer gift baskets can be appropriate for more than one special event. A note of caution, they aren't a good idea for sad times and should be sent to celebratory events only. Birthdays, St. Patrick's day, Christmas, and many other occasions are a good match. Housewarmings and door prizes are other times a beer gift basket could be used.

If you like to buy items online, then you will be able to do your shopping for a beer basket from the comfort of your home. Many different gift sites are selling beer gift baskets. Run a search for them and you will have plenty of choices to look through.

What kind of container should you choose? There are beer baskets available that come in a regular basket. Most of them come in a stainless steel or galvanized steel bucket. These buckets double as a cooler; just add ice and wait for the beer to cool. Remove the snacks and other items first, of course!

The beer gift basket will most likely have some of the following food items with it. Crackers, potato chips or popcorn are a mainstay. Gourmet cheese, assorted nuts, peanuts, and beef jerky are other available selections. Depending on the online vendor, you may be able to choose from these items to customize your basket.

If you really want a personalized gift basket with gourmet snacks and the right brand of beer to match your recipient, then you might have to make the basket up yourself. It isn't as hard as it sounds. Once you have looked online and discovered what elements of other baskets out there you want, then purchase the item locally and away you go.

So as you can see, a beer gift basket might be just the right gift for someone you know. Anyone who loves beer and snacks will be happy to receive a beer basket, and when you see their eyes light up it will be worth every penny.

Baby Memory Books Make Great Holiday and Unique Baby Shower Gifts

By Edie Mindell

A mother is not the only one who has memories of baby and toddlerhood. Grandparents also play a very important part in the making and keeping of a child's memories.

The advent of the holiday season marks the passing of another year. Each of us becomes a bit more nostalgic than usual at this time so rich in tradition and with the reminders of ending and beginnings so close on every hand. As minds wander over the previous year and holidays past we can see those little ones that are dear to our hearts and mark their growth with each Christmas.

It is often difficult to believe that the little one that runs about the house with pattering feet and a barely decipherable chatter was little more than a roly-poly smiling bundle at this same time last year.

Good intentions

Each baby is born to mothers who have the best of intentions to record and photograph each moment of this child's life. Many mothers rise to this challenge amid hectic schedules and life's demands. Yet few remain as committed to the scrapbook of the last child as they were with the first. Some mothers just don't have time to even begin and those cute baby memory books remain untouched as the years pass.

Filling a need

Moms and Dads are not the only persons in a child's life that have memories to record and share. Aunties and Grandmas also love and care for these babies from birth to the toddler years and right on up. This year why not give a gift that records and shares these precious memories with your precious baby?

Photos that are locked on computer hard drives or remain hidden on memory chips in cameras aren't very accessible. Toddlers love to see pictures of themselves and hear stories featuring them as they were when they were a baby. A memory book dedicated to them will be a big hit.

The toddler is not the only one who will appreciate the memory book. Moms from the dedicated scrap booking enthusiast to the mom who never even started will appreciate photos of her child that are already arranged, journaled and require nothing of her time and energy other than pure enjoyment.

Unique perspective

Grandmas and Aunties have a unique perspective that they can share. As a grandparent or sibling you can share memories of the baby as well as the parent you knew as a child. Pointing out similarities in looks, behavior and attitudes is often fun for both the toddler and their parent to discover. You can also laugh more readily at the natural naughtiness of childhood. As a loved one not in the parental role it is a funny occurrence - not a tragic mess - when the toothpaste is emptied from the tube, or the butter is eaten in huge bites right from the cube.

Getting started

To start your memory book Christmas gift give yourself time to complete it. The value of this gift is in its creation and not the monetary investment, so make sure you give it the time it deserves. The internet will be your best friend. You can get the photos you need by sending them directly from your PC to the photo shop via email. This saves time and gas. If you have the capability you can even print the photos yourself at home.

Memory books come in all shapes and sizes. You can get a one-time book that you can fill, or you can get a book that allows for the addition of pages as the years roll on. Browse online to find the book that is right for you, and then get to work. This is one gift that will be pleasing to giver and recipient alike.

Consider Moses Baskets for Holiday and Unique Baby Shower Gifts

Thursday, December 25, 2008 · 0 comments

By Edie Mindell

A Christmas gift basket of a different sort for the newborn baby would be a moses basket. The moses baskets are the perfect gift for using when visiting family and friends as the baby will then have some where to sleep other than the car seat or other carrier.

What to get for the parents who seem to have everything and want for nothing is often a perplexing question. When babies are new it seems that gifts are showered upon them from all sides. New parents like to shop for and pamper their new babies. Friends and family also ask parents what their wants and needs are to insure that the baby is well supplied. Grandparents are perhaps the biggest spenders sparing no expense to spoil that baby even though the baby has not been born.

The Christmas Question

This initial cascade of baby gifts is fun, but the holiday season can create a problem: What can I possibly get for this baby that she doesn't already have in duplicate? Holiday shopping should be fun, especially when the gift is for a baby or toddler. To this end when searching for that perfect Christmas gift for baby think of obscure, but fun items that will enhance baby's well being but might be considered non-essential.

Non-essential items are more interesting to select and often fill a need mom or dad didn't even know they had. This is why these particular items often escape selection in the deluge of gift giving that precedes and follows the baby's birth. A perfect example of a great Christmas gift idea for a baby is the Moses Basket.

A basket?

Moses baskets are made to create a portable bed for baby. These baskets can be quite simple woven and lined with cute linens or very ornate with handles, frilly details complete with a shade canopy. A Moses basket allows baby a safe place sheltered from the drafts of winter to sleep or rest when mom or dad's arms are otherwise occupied.

Different from a swing, bouncy seat or play yard, Moses Baskets transport easily from room to room, take up very little space and create a warm snuggly bed.

What's the point?

This gift is the very definition of filling a need that mom didn't even know she had. Most new parents get the bouncy seat, which is portable and the baby swing, which is not so portable thinking that is plenty. What happens in reality is this: their tiny new born slips and slides so much in the bouncy chair that it can't be used until they get bigger with more muscle control. The swing works well but limits mom to being in the living room because it is difficult to move.

A Moses Basket solves these problems. The basket is easily moved from space to space. It is not large and is warmer and more supportive of new babies than a bouncy chair. The smaller size allows mom and dad to take baby with them to any room while they work or relax.

Form and function

Even the simplest Moses baskets are beautiful. This makes them a welcome addition to any dcor. Baby accessories like swings sometimes create an eyesore that parents can't wait to remove once they are out grown. A Moses basket does not carry this same stigma.

Enjoy Your Workout With Mini Trampolines

Fitness is a dreaded topic, especially making up a routine. More than likely you have tried to start up a routine or have made a new one and just quit shortly after. Maybe you tried time consuming sports, rainy running, or expensive DVD's that are just the same low class workout.

If they were more enjoyable - you would do them. Mini trampolines make these routines enjoyable. Unlike any other piece, a trampoline is something you will actually have fun on while getting in shape. The best part is; most likely you own one or someone you know does.

Be advised - do not just jump into a trampoline workout. Checking in with your doctor to make sure you are healthy enough that nothing will be irritated when working out is essential. If you get the okay or already know you are - it is time to set up a routine. Whether you pick up a professional routine from the internet, DVD, or just make one up yourself; you are getting closer to starting.

Mini trampolines are becoming more and more popular with workout routines due to the fun factor. Most people who have successful routines on trampolines owned one as a kid and remember the endless enjoyment they brought. They strive on those memories and carry that energy into their workouts.

Finding the perfect mini trampoline workouts may sound hard but it really is not. There are sites dedicated solely to mini trampoline routines such as www.jumpforhealth.com, but if you can not spend them money on their DVD's and routines - just check out YouTube.

Routines based on Yoga or Pilates are popular with mini trampolines. Like other equipment, the trampoline helps to improve your balance and core strength while doing the exercises. The dance-based workouts provide more cardio than strength training, while Yoga and Pilates improve strength and flexibility.

Mini trampolines are easily purchased from retailers such as Sears and Best Buy. When buying a trampoline, be sure that it is well-built and has a weight limit that will support you. When beginning your workouts, listen to the instructions on any DVDs that you have purchased. Do not try to jump too high as this is less safe and doesnat give you a better workout anyway.

One last tip is to make sure you spend your exercising time in a safe area - do not jump if your ceiling is only eight foot high. Mini trampolines are a great way to get healthy and enjoy it. So jump back into fitness by using a mini trampoline to spice up your workout.

Easy Homemade Carp Baits For Big Fish And Saving Money

By Tim Richardson

Fishing bait from fishing shops can really make going carp fishing an expensive passion! Many anglers are now so conditioned to using readymade baits that they have never seriously considered the huge advantages of making very unique baits for themselves, but they will catch as many if not higher numbers of fish than commercial baits. The fact that homemade bait will cost you a fraction of the cost of readymade baits and over the days and weeks shocking savings can be achieved with no less fish (in fact quite the opposite!)

Every time I have used a homemade bait that is different to the popular baits on a water, big fish have appeared and this is one of those definite points about carp which you can exploit using homemade baits. Fish learn by association and will find your new baits much harder to resist than popular readymades that already have been exploited. This difference is often the factor that decides if you get a run of big fish, or just average results, or series of memorable personal best fish sessions or lots of blanks!

Of course it takes the usual fishing skills and application in order to catch any fish especially those bigger ones which are far less easily caught, but your unique bait is a distinct factor in producing for you consistent big fish catches. One of the most incredible highs is to land new personal best fish on bait you have made from your own recipe and knowing you are the one angler who is ever going to exploit your secret bait. You never have to compete with hundreds of other fishermen on the same bait as you!

Bait only really has a peak of effectiveness when fish feed confidently on it because they know they most likely will not get hooked and risk getting taken home for tea. Sure we put them back, but if you were hooked and dragged out of your safe air environment into a foreign one you would be wary of any bait that has led to you being hooked previously too! Making your own alternative secret bait recipes is such a great advantage over the masses who use readymades without a further thought to their never talked about disadvantages!

Popular baits in many ways do have a shelf life in terms of longevity of effectiveness. Top bait manufacturers will tell you that even in a stock pond which has never been fished, when a new bait has been fished intensively by a number of anglers successfully, their results can slow right up even literally to the point of no more fish being caught on that bait. (This is no exaggeration, for example Gary Bayes of the international bait company Nashbaits told me of his experience of this!) Many baits exploit highly concentrated flavors in order to affect bait pH to stimulate fish. Others use the biological nutritional value approach and call their baits food baits for this reason.

It might sound hard, but making baits that really work effectively is easy, and your baits do not need to be perfect like commercially produced machine rolled round or barrel shaped boilies or pellets shapes etc. There are obviously very many methods of making baits and you do not need to follow conventional steps at all, in fact there are many steps you can leave out completely. This makes things very much easier, saves hours of time and take the least effort possible!

You do not have to make individual baits in round shapes. Why not roll out a bait paste made of eggs, liquid additives and dry powders made into a dough and simply cut this into little odd shaped pieces? You could pop these into a pan of boiling water for about a minute or so to make boilies.

Making homemade bait is as hard as finding a bowl a mixing spoon or knife, a few eggs and some flours or other dry ingredients. Many flours about the house will bind to form a bait, from semolina and soya to maize and corn flour, and dried rice flour. For example, crack 5 or 6 eggs into a bowl and whisk them adding any flavouring or liquids additives you might choose, like ketchup or a flavoring from the baking aisle of your local store. Take 8 ounces of semolina and the same of soya flour and slowly add to your eggs until a dough the feel of putty is made. It is very easy and quick and with practice you can do this at lightening speed!

Now you can use the dough as fresh bait or opt to label some sealed plastic bags and store it in the fridge for a few days or to freeze it in advance of going fishing. You most likely will forget what you made your baits out of so it is best to write this somewhere so you can remake your winning baits repeatedly! It is possible to get a ball of dough weighing about a kilogram from a 6 egg mixture; this will obviously vary depending upon the various ingredients you choose to include and their levels. Some ingredients will hold water better than others while some might dissolve readily in water, and the practical advantages of each kind are easy to exploit depending if you want hard baits which break down slowly or ones which dissolve and spread their attraction very quickly.

Considering you can easily make very economical baits even with better food nutrition value than just carbohydrate baits like the one described, it is still shocking to work out just how much money you can save. You can produce very effective big fish baits for 2 or 3 pounds or about 6 dollars per kilogram compared to shop prices of 5 or 6 times this cost. The total cost of 10 kilograms of readymade baits can be 80 to 120 pounds, while your homemade bait can cost you just 20 or 30 pounds, saving you 60 to 100 pounds for every 10 kilograms of readymade bait!

The best advantage of all is you can make your baits as different to normal as you like. Remember, being different is what really counts. Most frequently it is the most different and alternative homemade baits which tempt the very biggest and wariest of fish. You can start off with the simple bait here, but you might like to find out more if you really want to get cracking and hit the big-time!

By Tawnee McMagus

In the last ten years, many more individuals have gotten tattoos. A large portion of our population has a minimum of one of them. Tattoo artists have also observed in recent years that have become more popular and are more in demand.

Naturally, tattoo artists are creating more detailed angel tattoos than they have before. Customers have a large selection of options when it comes to choosing a tattoo design. Samples of styles are sometimes available on the walls of a tattoo parlor. Clients can also browse through albums to see the handiwork of the parlor's artists. Spending some quality time looking at detailed pictures may let you see how the tattoo will look on your skin, and can help you choose your design.

Individuals elect to get angel tattoos out of a variety of motivations. For some they are a reminder of a beloved relative or friend who has died. For others, they are simply lovely designs. Regardless of the reason, tattoo artists have noted that these images are becoming more and more popular.

In the category of angel tattoos you will find a variety such as mythic angels, heavenly angels, comic book angels and personal angels. You will watch the beauty flow from the ink to your skin as the artist begins his work. This beautiful artwork will be with you forever.

All too often, pictures of tattoos turn out to be poor examples of the work which they represent. Instead, viewing a tattoo "in the flesh" will more accurately show the wonderful art that makes a tattoo what it is.
Your should be well thought out both in design and location. It is better to consider things carefully now than to decide later that you wish you hadn't put the tattoo in a particular place once it is finished.

Tattoo artists will usually be willing to personalize artwork that is in their standard repertoire. Some will even design new artwork just for you if you tell them the details of what you are trying to achieve.

Shopping Diva: Tips for Effortless Internet Holiday Shopping

By Edie Mindell

Don't fancy the idea of crowds and traffic? Do your shopping online. If you have had it with traditional holiday shopping you are not alone. Even the most fearless and most organized holiday shopping divas tire from the endless crowds and cheesy holiday music. Luck for us in this day and age there is another option: internet shopping.

Internet shopping is sweeping the nation and is quickly become a very normal occurrence. Yet as any shopping diva knows there are a few ins and outs that can greatly increase your success.

Shop Savvy

First off, just because you can shop from home in your undies does not mean that you need any less preparation. You are a shopping diva, after all, and just because you are taking your list into cyberspace instead of retail space does not eliminate the need to check it twice. Once you have prepared your list with the utmost care, then you are ready to shop.

Shop Safe

With identity theft being an ever-growing threat, one of the first things an internet shopping diva needs to know is how to make her funds secure. There are a few ways to do this. One of the first ways is to make certain you only give out credit card information on secured websites.

Check if the site is secure by looking for a padlock icon on your browser window. If there is no such icon, the site is not secure and you shouldn't give out your information. Never ever give out credit card information in email. Email is not secure.

Other security measures include using the same credit card to make all your online purchases. This card should carry a low spending limit. That way if your information is stolen the culprit can't rack up huge bills. Also using just one card eliminates the question of what card was used when or if you need to contest a charge.

Shop Smart

One of the great things about taking the shopping online is that there are tons of review websites. When shopping in person at Holiday Toddler Toy Emporium, the only review you are likely to get about a toy is from the box, fellow shoppers or the teenage sales clerk. These resources often leave much to be desired.

Not so with online stores. Reviews are plentiful, detailed and have real life experience. This kind of information at your fingertips will help you avoid poor purchases.

Shop Savings

Hesitate to shop online because you think the cost is too much? This is not true. You can use the same coupons online as in the store for cost savings. In addition to coupon savings you rarely need to pay sales tax on online purchases. This is a savings of on average 8% right back into your pocket.

Shipping costs are a concern, but if you shop early you can avoid high express shipping rates as well as the trip to the post office when you need to send your three-year-old nephew his Christmas gift.

Recommended Holiday Shopping Tips for the Babies in Your Life

By Edie Mindell

Give the best gifts and still have a sane holiday without endless shopping. These tips are sure to come in handy when you are holiday shopping for babies and toddlers this season.

Does this sound familiar to anyone: The past several years have seen a veritable baby boom in your family. You and your siblings or siblings in law seem to have all been drinking the same water because you have all been blessed to become parents in the recent past.

This boom of babies has been most welcome by all, especially the delighted grandparents. As you all moved into parenthood together you have navigated certain new boundaries and still maintained a harmonious and loving family.

The advent of Christmas!

Now the blessed season of Christmas is knocking on your door and a whole new worry emerges. You would love to give a gift to each and everyone of your nieces and nephews from the oldest toddlers to the newest baby. Yet this gift giving bonanza is fraught with certain difficulties.

You and your siblings, while tied by strong family ties are not in the same places financially, in gift giving ideas and shipping distances. These differences make it difficult to know what type of gifts are appreciated or offensive.

The gift issue

All families at some point go through this same type of growing pain when grandbabies begin to arrive. You want to show your love, yet have no desire to be the one who trumps other's gifts if yours are more expensive or numerous. Worse yet your gifts end up making someone else look like a Holiday Humbug because you arrive with arms laden with gifts and all they have to pass out is hugs and kisses.

Get on the same page

To this end it is time to fill your role as a parent, sibling and as an aunt or uncle and broach the subject openly. Feelings will not be hurt if holiday gift giving plans are discussed openly among parents. This might not be the easiest conversation to begin, but it is much better to talk about it before seasons of gift giving blunders stack up and create hurt or resentment.

Get the ball rolling

To get the subject out into the open can be done any one of a number of ways. It is best to do it at a time when most of the family is gathered together in one place. Making sure as many people have a say in the initial conversation will ensure that no one feels backed into a gift giving corner because they weren't able to help set the ground rules right from the start.

Shopping for toddlers and babies at Christmas time should be full of fun. Discussing openly gift giving plans with your family will make sure your gifts are received in the same spirit of loving holiday fun.

How To Setup A Trampoline Correctly

By Jane Bracken

Congrats on purchasing a Trampoline. It is a wonderful workout and a lot of fun. How can one set up a Trampoline? The first step is simple and easy. First, take everything out of the box and make sure you have all the parts.

Now you can begin to determine where to set up the trampoline. It is important to find the most level ground you can find before you start building it because it can be very difficult to move once it is fully constructed, especially the larger trampolines. Identify the legs of the trampoline first. Usually they are some of the shortest pieces with a right angle bend. Set these pieces aside.

Look for several long pieces with holes on the ends. These pieces will most likely be curved. The amount included with your trampoline will vary, depending on its size, but there are usually around six to eight pieces inside a large trampoline box.

Now try your best to match one of these longer pieces with shorter legs piece. Assembly can begin to take place one you have a rough set or matching pairs to create the general frame for the trampoline. Make sure that each piece and each connection is snuggly fit so that the frame is sturdy and snaps into place.

Enlist the help of several people with strong muscles to help you put on the springs and stretch it over the net. The best way to tackle this is by attaching one spring at a time and pulling the net over it immediately afterward. Iam sure a springfree trampoline is made, but I am not aware of any company that makes or sells them.

A good question to ask is if you should set up a trampoline on uneven ground? This should be carefully considered before assembling the trampoline on uneven ground. Ideally you would not want to have the trampoline on uneven ground because it could be unsafe. Try and look around for a better are that is more even.

If you must construct the trampoline on not level ground, you can use stacks of boards, heavy blocks, or cinder blocks placed under the legs to make the trampoline as even as possible. Safety needs to be number one priority though because the trampoline can slip off of these makeshift supports. Another alternative is to actually trim the legs so that it is even.

Placing a trampoline on uneven ground can be tricky especially when keeping it safe. You could dig holes where the legs would be and place the trampoline in the holes. After you put the legs on the holes then you could fill the holes back up with dirt or better yet concrete. If you never plan on moving the trampoline then concrete may be the sturdiest way to go.

Trampolines can provide people with a lot of enjoyment. You can have contests with your friends on who can jump the highest, do the best flip, or who can jump the longest. This can provide you and your friends with hours of enjoyment. Workouts can also be done on a trampoline and this is a way to exercise in a fun way.

Two Secrets Of A Great Halloween Craft Idea

By Kathy Pratts

When thinking of a Halloween craft idea, you'd want to be as creative as you can be. A good Halloween craft idea could range from dressing up as a vampire or witch. But an even greater idea would be to create something unique.

One way to think of a great Halloween craft idea is to find things in the house you can use. Everyday objects for your costume can add a little bit of quirkiness and fun. No more boring costumes that everybody else in your neighborhood is wearing. Another way to find a great Halloween craft idea is to think of a really wild accessory. Focusing on accessories can open more doors to creativity because they are often so easy to make.

Homemade Costumes

This Halloween craft idea is great for those on a budget. Here are a couple of ideas:

Cardboard boxes are great for Halloween costumes. With a cardboard box, you can create a robot costume. Slice off the opening flaps or covers of the box and cut out holes on the side of the box where the arms can go through. Line the whole box with kitchen foil using glue or glue gun. You may also use silver paint or silver duct tape. To top your look, get a round plastic bowl and line with foil from the inside out. At the bottom of the bowl, twist the ends of the foil together to great your "antenna". Flip the bowl and wear as a hat! You can use cardboard to create a box costume or beautiful sequined wings.

Balloons can make your next Halloween craft idea. For a two-headed monster theme, use a balloon and any kind of sac. Tie your balloon to a safety pin, so you can attach it to your shirt later. Draw a face on the sac and fill in with color. Put the sac over the balloon and secure with a string or safety pin (make sure the balloon's string is no longer visible). Create a "collar" for your second head by using a bow tie or any tie design you can think of. Use yarn for hair or a hat/cap to cover the head. Finally, attach the balloon to your collar or sleeve.

You can also use balloons to form and create monsters of different shapes. Attach more than one balloon to create a 3-headed hydra or an army of ghosts or goblins that follow around behind you!

Wild Accessories

There's so much more to Halloween craft idea costume accessory than capes and wings. Attach claws to your nails or make your own fangs with white plastic containers. You can also think of fairytale characters and create a deadly twist out of them like the bloody red riding hood with a basket of rotten Styrofoam fruits and slimy rubber worms.

Brainstorming for a Halloween craft idea is simply thinking outside the box. You can basically think of anything such as any household object and work your theme around it!

Christmas Jammies and Socks! Fun Kid Traditions for Holidays
