Fat Redfish with Capt. Paul Braly

By Captain Paul Braly

I fished today with Jeff Austin of Texas Tops. Jeff and I were pre-fishing for this weekend's Texas Trout Series and it was a tough stick. We did not find what we were looking for, however lucky for us we brought along some Devil Eyes so that we could at least get our lines streched.

As we go through the water, we only found a single inshore fish hopping the wide area, unlike the other day where I saw much of them. Few minutes later, Jeff got the first bite with the Devil Eye of Amber color with 1/4 ounce Truloc. The first hook was empty though. Then I got my hook bitten but it was another empty lure as well. After waiting for another few minutes, the hook got an 18" Speckled trout on it, and then we went to the second spot.

At this spot the water was a little cleaner so I put on a Dark Strawberry Blue Devil Eye and Jeff pulled out a white stink bait (you know the G word) so we jumped out and got going. We were trading off on schooling trout lock ups but no real weight for either of us.

Then we reached a certain spot where the boat was necessary to get us to the other side. Jeff was always on the go so he brought the boat to the spot and we waded to the other side.

We hopped on back to the boat and we drifted through the deeper area on to the other side. As we drift by, we measured the depth of the water with a rod so we would know where to jump out of the boat but as we continued to drift by, I throw a lure into a sand pocket and suddenly a fat redfish was on the hook. We both waded down at the spot. Jeff started to cast his Devil Eye and after a few minutes he got one redfish. I also got some more redfish with the Devil Eye.

During tough fishing, it is always a good decision to bring along and use the Devil Eyes for fishing. Jeff and I used it with 10-11 o'clock triple bounce pausing every 5 seconds and then repeat the casting of lures. If you are having hard time fishing, like what we experienced, always use a bait that can stand the tough situation and make a pattern with every cast and the reds will surely bite in.

The list below has some good movie reviews. In this paragraph I will give you some search terms to reach movie down load sites. Film download searches will include "Best Movie Download Sites", "Internet Movie Rental", and "New Movies Download".

Buffalo Bill: This vibrant biography of the legendary Westerner should have been much better, however still grants some fun and has excellent cast. Cast includes Joel McCrea, Maureen O'Hara, Linda Damell, Thomas Mitchell, Anthony Quinn, Edgar Buchanan, Chief Thundercloud, and Sidney Blackmer. (90 minutes, 1944)

Red Sorghum: Evocative, beautifully filmed drama, black comedy, kid story, fable which journals a most untraditional union between a set of rural lovers throughout the 1920s. The years pass, the next year shows up, and with it materialize Japanese invaders. Cast includes Gong Li, Jiang Wen, Liu Ji, Teng Rijun, and Qian Ming. (91 minutes, 1987)

The Vows: An astronomically pleasing story of an ambitious youthful Dubliner who takes on the task of constructing and managing a band made up of other Dubliners who harmonize '60s-type music! Disarmingly involving from them start with a charismatic cast of unknowns, and the film is filled with irresistible music. This film is truly a genuine treat. Cast includes Robert Arkins, Michael Aherne, Angeline Ball, Maria Doyle, Dave Finnegan, Bronagh Gallagher, Felim Gormley, Glen Hansard, Dick Massey, Johnny Murphy, Kenneth McCluskey, Andrew Hefty, and Colm Meaney. (117 minutes, 1991)

The Day the Hot Line Got Hot: The film is a weak try at espionage as spies mess up the Moscow Washington hot line, leading to global disaster. This was Robert Taylor's very last performance. Cast includes Robert Taylor, Charles Boyer, George Chakiris, Dominique Fabre, and Gerard Tichy. (92 minutes, 1969)

The General: One of Keaton's best silent films, setting comedy contrary to real Civil War tale of a stolen train, and Union spies. Not as fanciful as other Keaton films, although beautifully finished. Cast includes Buster Keaton, Marion Mack, Glen Cavender, Jim Farley, and Joseph Keaton. (100 minutes, 1984)

The Facts of Life: An advanced comedy with Bob and Lucy leaving their partners for an interlude together. The 2 megastars make a team worth observing. Cast includes Bob Wish, Lucille Ball, Ruth Hussey, and Don DeFore. (103 minutes, 1960)

Gator Bait: All the men folk are after seductive swamp girl (Playboy Playmate of the Year Jennings) although she has a surprise or two in store for them. Cast includes Claudia Jennings, Sam Gilman, Doug Dirkson, Clyde Ventura, and Bill Thurman. (93 minutes, 1976)

The Buddy System: A desperate kid tries to play matchmaker between his lonely mom and a grown-up buddy, would-be novelist and tool creator (Dreyfuss). Pleasantly played although excessively recognizable (and overlong) romantic comedy. Cast includes Richard Dreyfuss, Susan Sarandon, Nancy Allen, Jean Stapleton, Will Wheaton, Edward Fall, and Keene Curtis. (110 minutes, 1984)

The Egyptian: A ponderous, often accidentally ludicrous biblical times soap style film with Purdom cast as the tender, truth seeking title personality, set in old Egypt. Darvi's behavior as a femme fatale is humorously terrible. Cast includes Jean Simmons, Victor Mature, Gene Tiemey, Michael Wilding, Bella Darvi, Peter Ustinov, Edmund Purdom, Judith Evelyn, Henry Daniell, John Carradine, and Tommy Rettig. (140 minutes, 1954)

A holiday trip to Spain becomes even more special when one chooses the Los Cristianos hotels to stay in. These hotels are in and around the village of Los Cristianos and provide a traveler on any budget with a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a beautiful part of Spain.

Almost all of the main activities in an around Los Cristianos are easy walking distance from the hotels. One may find themselves as Los Cristianos hotels which have been built close enought to the beach to smell the salt air when one stands on the veranda.

For a great seaside hotel, you can't beat the Arona Gran Hotel. Ask for a room with a view of the harbor. You can swim in the swimming pools year round because they heat them during the winter. The pool area is equipped with padded loungers and parasols for those who want to soak up the sun. The food served in the hotel's restaurant is outstanding and there is a fitness center for those who like to work out.

Hotels in the area center on the town's two golden sand beaches -- which are very nice and highly thought of. Nightlife in the form of nightclubs and bars or restaurants is very active, as well. Daytime vacationing activities include sport fishing and dolphin and whale watching excursions.

The pool area at the Dinastia Holiday Apartments is almost too quiet. Some guests report worrying that their children are making too much noise. The apartments are about ten minutes away from the beach on foot, but they are located on a steep hill, so keep in mind that you will be walking uphill on the way back.

Former guests recommend the Los Cristianos hotels and apartments listed above for your vacation accommodations. If you choose one of these places to stay during your vacation, you won't regret it.

The First Date

By Marion Rose Jones

When you go on a date with someone there are specific things you should or should not do and certain ways you should conduct yourself. Of course you want the person to get to know you, so, first off, you oughtn't attempt to be someone that you are not.

When you go out on a date you ought to look clean and dress nicely. This will show the other person, not only that you think about about your appearance, but that you also care about what they think about you. After all, If you don't care about what the other person thinks, then you probably shouldn't be going out on a date with them in the first place, should you?

This suggestion really depends on the person you are taking out. It applies more to a man dating a woman, obviously, but some women don't like having doors opened for them either. You will have to play it by ear. I think that the best guidance I can offer, is that you should remember to open the car doors and all doors for that matter (except the washroom door) for your date, unless you are told or you sense otherwise.

A lot of younger women might say they wouldn't judge a man by his door-opening behavior, but I think it does form a beneficial part of the overall picture she will be building up of you. However, if the woman you are going out with is an obvious feminist, then you had better let her open the doors for herself - just let her get on with it or it might trouble her. She might also want to pay for her own meal, but that's not a bad thing is it?

Make sure that you on time. Be there when you say you will be there to pick her up and be prepared to pay for the entire date. It might not come to that, she may buy a drink or two, but you can't rely on it, so slip a credit card in your wallet too. Better safe than sorry and you don't want to have walk home., would you?

So, that brings us conveniently to the next point, which is, don't take your date somewhere you cannot pay for because you never want to find yourself asking your date for money to cover the bill, unless you don't aspire to see her again.

Another part of dating etiquette also relates to not making the other person feel as if they are at an interview. It is all too common for people on a date to ask too many questions because they want to get to know the other person quickly. However, how would you feel, if you were asked twenty questions between every course or drink? It is well-intentioned, but irritating. It is far better to have, say, five or six interesting, non-personal questions that you can discuss at more length.

If you push them too far, if you get too personal too quickly, you could scare them off. Just try to generate a comfortable atmosphere by being considerate and yourself.

Problems surface while Erceg's lady friend (Jentsch) partakes in one of their adventures. (137 minutes, 2004)

Last summer: A commanding tale based on Evan Hunter novel of adolescents playing on the shore in a summer resort. Cast includes Richard Thomas, Barbara Hershey, Bruce Davison, Cathy Burns, Ralph Waite, and Conrad Bain. (97 minutes, 1969)

The Cocos Islands

Friday, October 30, 2009 · 0 comments

By Martin Pittaway

Stick a pin in a globe through the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, and it emerges almost exactly through the Cocos in Costa Rica.

Discovered in 1609, these islands were settled and owned by a single family from 1827 until the Australian Government forcibly acquired them in 1978 for a payment of over $6 million.

Lying 2,770 km (1,732 ml) northwest of Perth, the 27 coral islands are formed into two large, heavily vegetated atolls. Not only are they the only atolls that Darwin ever visited, but the coral ecosystem remains intact and you can still see in their pristine condition exactly why they played such an important part in his theory of evolution.

North Keeling, set apart from the other islands, isn't even inhabited; but you can see extreme rarities like the Cocos buff-banded rail, robber land crabs, and both green and hawksbill turtles among other wonders, under its protection as Pulu Keeling National Park, covering both North Keeling and its surrounding waters.

The 600 or so Cocos (Keeling) islanders live on Home and West Islands, both given over to copra and coconut plantations that only add to their tropical glamour. There is no tourist industry at all. Instead, there are facilities for visitors, sponsored by islanders who take an almost personal interest in everyone who comes.

If you happen to be there, you're genuinely welcome to participate in the school fete, sports day, or concert night; and you'd be unwise not to join in quiz night at the Cocos Club, or not to watch the annual Ardmona Cup Aussie Rules football match. The tradition of hospitality is both Australian and Malay, representing the origins of the tight-knit community.

The islanders, as much as the islands themselves, have retained a form of unpolluted innocence, and share a mutual respect that visitors immediately respond to. These islands are a dreamscape worthy of Gauguin.

Taba, Egypt - A Casino Town On The Red Sea.

By Ben Jones

Taba Egypt is not a town a lot of people talk about unless they have been there. It's a hidden gem of Egypt that is ideal for a romantic excursion for a weekend, or simply a short stay on a longer journey. Whatever the reason, you just might be surprised by what this town has to offer.

Before you get into the numerous things you could in Taba, you might consider checking in to your hotel. There are several to choose from, ranging from any price range and amenities. The highest recommended of all of these hotels and resorts would be the Hilton Resort. Hotels aren't all that exciting, unless all you wanted was to relax. I suggest just dropping off your bags and setting out to make the most of your time in this town. Let me name a few things most folks say you just have to try.

Taba is not really known for pyramids or medieval castles, but there is one well-known monument nearby: The centuries old road between St Catherine's Monastery and Jerusalem went past Zaman Castle, east of the Sinai peninsula. The panoramic view from here is likely to take your breath away - mountains belonging to four countries stretching into the distance as far as you can see. If you like good food, you will not be disappointed: the Zaman prepares a famous stew of meat, vegetables, figs and dates that will satisfy any gourmet, as long as he is not in a hurry. They take a few hours to prepare this.

Gambling can be fun, but what beats diving deep down in the sea? The next stop on the tour of Taba is the Red Sea Water World: Taba Heights. This location is one of only 5 diving locations in Egypt and allows people to experience the thrill of diving into the beautiful Red Sea.

Taba now has an international airport, 35km from town. There are many taxis into town. If you are coming from Cairo, and you have a limited budget, try the bus from there to the border. Passengers are mostly male, but the buses are fairly new.

Nightlife is fun and exciting in Taba. You can enjoy a delicious meal in one of the spectacular restaurants of Taba, or enjoy a cocktail with that special someone on the beach. If Lady Luck is on your side, you might even want to play a few hands at the casino. Looking for a relaxing vacation, or just a short weekend trip to get away from it all? Taba Egypt is the perfect choice.

Play Paintball? Then You Need a Thermal Lens

By Ryan Gert

Lets face it; if you cant see your opponent in a game of paintball, you have little chance of hitting them. Paintball relies heavily on your ability to spot your opponent.

A paintball mask is a very important piece of equipment. With much of the game of paintball relying on your vision, you want a mask that doesn't hinder your vision, and one that won't fog up when you are playing paintball.

Single pane lenses are a pane. Cheaper masks often come with single pane lenses. Even if they say they have fog protection, it wont last. After a couple of games, whatever was on the single pane lens to prevent fog will wear off and it will fog up.

When you are playing paintball, chances are you will get your blood pumping and your body will generate more heat. Unless you have a nice thermal lens, your mask will fog up.

It is amazingly hard to play paintball effectively with a fogged up paintball lens. You become about as effective as if you were playing with your eyes closed.

Thermal lenses cure fog problems. They will prevent fog from ruining a game of paintball. The air trapped between the two lenses in a thermal lens keep the lens fog free.

Whatever type of mask you have, you should be able to find a thermal lens for it. Thermal lenses are more expensive than single pane lenses, but they are well worth it.

For anyone that wants to play every game of paintball to their best ability, I recommend that they get a thermal lens. It is a great investment!

Pearl of the Indian Ocean - Sri Lanka Profile

By George Brash

The Pearl of the Indian Ocean lies only 31 km (19 ml) off India's south coast. Its modern name is taken from the Sanskrit ancient Indian epics Mahabharata and the Ramayana, and means resplendent land.

Sri Lanka's chief characteristic is intensity ...of colour, of beauty, of religious belief, of sectarian commitment, and of affection it inspires in everyone who goes there. The first to stay became the stuff of legend: the 2,500 year-old Mahawamsa chronicle describes the arrival of the 'Sinhala' (lion race), and the island's history since has been a series of shifting kingdoms, each leaving a treasury of ruins and literature, and a tangle of relationships that are still being decoded in its modern political life.

When you go to Sri Lanka's cultural triangle of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Dambullal Sigiriya, you see the architectural glories of the past, but they are living history. They are active religious sites, not floodlit movie sets.

The island has the perfect set-up. At any time of year you can lounge on immaculate beaches, and cool off in the hills when you get hot. Colombo, the capital, is a chaotic modem city, and an appropriate synthesis both of Sri Lanka's indigenous cultures and its Portuguese, Dutch and British influences.

Tropical beaches stretch north to the bustle of Negambo, a characteristic fishing community; and south in a chain of pink and white arcs, past turtle hatcheries (Indurwa), masked carvers (Ambalangoda), and the coral reefs of Hikkaduwa.

Go to Yala West National Park, a teeming rainforest of elephants, leopards, buffaloes, monkeys, crocodiles, deer, sloth bears and a galaxy of birds, on your way to the lush, lakeside hill resort of Kandy.

It's Sri Lanka's exotic spiritual centre, and its spectacular parades of frenetic dancers, firewalkers and pounding drummers are, in fact, often a signal to prayer.

A Great Gift: Egypt Package

By Larry D Smith

In our modern era, where money seems to be more plentiful than time, package holidays have become very popular. You can see and experience a lot in a short time if everything has been arranged for you beforehand. And as far as these types of holidays go, Egypt packages offer more for your money than most other destinations.

The reason is simply that Egypt has such a wide variety of attractions. Where other destinations might offer tropical beach holidays, or ancient monuments, or romantic river cruises, few of them can offer all of that in one country.

Our bodies are not familiar with the microorganisms found in the water in Egypt. Because of this do not drink the water. Drink only bottled water. When showering do not let the water touch your face as it can go into your eyes, nose or mouth. Also brush your teeth with the bottled water. Consuming coffee is ok because the water is hot.

It is hot in Egypt and bacteria can grow quickly on food. Staying away from salad bars and buffets, may be in your best interest. If you decide to eat from a buffet, only eat the hot foods. Peel any fruit before eating it, and wash your hands thoroughly and often. In between hand washing carry around hand sanitizer to use.

If you are a beach lover, or diver, you have plenty of options in Egypt. Hundreds of thousands of people stream to the resorts on the Red Sea every year. The climate is sunny year round, the water is clear, and the food is good and cheap. Whether you are a water sports fan, or just want to relax on the beach, the choice is yours.

Temples: Ancient Egypt was rooted in religion and ancestry linked to the Egyptian pantheon Gods. Every pharaoh was linked to a certain cult and temples were built in a form of their political view and status. Uniquely and specifically painted walls, columned halls and courts provide Egypt with a source of cultural triumphs.

Downloading Movies Right To Your Computer The Straightforward And Smart Way

By Glen Carpenter

Are you looking for a great way to receive your favorite films? Are you weary of having to go back and forth to the video store, just to find out that the film that you desired is not in stock? How effortless do you think it could be to download complete, first-rate movies instantly to your computer?

There are numerous, completely legal and user-friendly sites that will permit you to download movies directly at home to your own computer. There are also some websites that declare that you can download the videos for no cost however, most of those services are working in an illegal manner and you would do best to keep away from them. You need to make certain that the website you are utilizing is honoring all copyrights and abiding by copyright laws.

The most imperative characteristic of a movie download website is one that is working lawfully. All of the lawful services charge a fee, which only makes sense when you think about it. Typically the fee is membership fee that covers unlimited downloads for a specific period of time. All of the royalty fees that are owing to the copyright owner should be built into the fee that is charged.

You should also search for a site that has a wide variety. The reality is that the in order to abide by copyright laws the film should have been released as a video so your collection should be at least equivalent to your local video store however, since computer files don't take up actual space the choice on a first-rate service is most of the time better. If you also have access to music and games that is even better.

You will need to know precisely how to download your movies so a step-by-step tutorial is essential. They should be simple to understand so even a computer beginner could straightforwardly finish the download. Downloading videos is effortless but only if you know how.

Some websites will also provide software that will allow you to put the film on a Disc so you can view it from a TV set. It truly is much nicer to view a movie all comfy and curled up on the sofa than sitting in front of a computer. If that is an important concern for you make sure that the site you choose provides it.

It is nice if you can view the collection of movies prior to buying a membership. Membership fees are particularly reasonable but you still need to make sure of what you are receiving before you purchase. A website should offer to allow you to view the variety before you buy.

Last you should check into their customer service. If you run into troubles or concerns you need to know that you can speak to someone that can help you. Most services will offer an online chat where you can talk with someone who can assist you if you have difficulties. You should also look for a site that offers protection against viruses, spyware and adware so that you can be sure that your computer is protected.

We have some films reviewed in the following paragraphs. You can use a search engine to find movie download sites. You should try two or three searches, with terms like, "Movie Download Site", "Buy DVD Online", and "Streaming Online Movies".

Trade: A thirteen-year-old gal is kidnapped by members of a sex-trafficking ring. As her older brother follows her tracks, he hooks up with a Texas cop (Kline) who has his own rationales for chasing this outfit of bad guys. This downbeat drama reveals a stunning, debasing circumstance, although it's maddeningly choppy, one second daring and commanding (particularly with Finnish actress Bachleda) and the next remarkably corny. Cast includes Kevin Kline, Alicia Bachleda, Paulina Gaitan, Kathleen Gati, Pasha D. Lychnikoff, Anthony Crivello, Linda Emond, Zack Ward, Cesar Ramos, Marco Perez, and Tim Reid. (120 minutes, 2007)

Jack Frost: A neglectful dad dies in an automobile mishap and comes to life one year later as a snowman in his child's front yard! Nice, likable acting and an absence of violence make this an alright family film. However, it on no account conquers its quintessential issue, an extremely weird premise. Cast includes Michael Keaton, Kelly Preston, Mark Addy, Joseph Cross, Henry Rollins, and Dweezil Zappa. (95 minutes, 1998)

The Fog: A thick haze from the Pacific hangs over a Northwest seaside village, bringing with it murderous and vengeful ghosts. A lame redo of John Carpenter's 1980 film modifies the structure but does not improve on the first edition. Cast includes Tom Welling, Maggie Grace, Selma Blair, DeRay Davis, Kenneth Welsh, Adrian Hough, Sara Botsford, and Rade Sherbedgia. (100 minutes, 2005)

Kimberley Jim: Little musical of 2 carefree gamblers who win a fortune in a fixed poker game, and then have a change of heart. Cast includes Jim Reeves, Madeleine Guide, Clive Pamell, Arthur Swemmer, and Mike Holt. (82 minutes, 1965)

I Wake Up Screaming: An amusing whodunit with Grable and Mature accused in the death of Betty's sis, chased by decided cop Cregar. The film ends with an excellent twist. Cast includes Betty Grable, Victor Mature, Carole Landis, Laird Cregar, William Gargan, Alan Mowbray, Allyn Joslyn, and Elisha Cook. (82 minutes, 1941)

Rhapsody in August: Average (by his own estimations) little Kurosawa is a piece in reference to the hurtful memories of a Japanese woman who recollects the bombing of Nagasaki at the end of WW2. Gere, in a hyped up cameo, doesn't appear too out of place as a Japanese American member of the old lady's lengthened family. Cast includes Sachiko Murase, Richard Gere, and Narumi Kayashima. (98 minutes, 1991)

The Day Time Ended: Sci-fi mumbo jumbo in regards to a family living in the desert, who witness odd and horrifying phenomena. Cast includes Jim Davis, Dorothy Malone, Christopher Mitchum, Marcy Lafferty, Scott Kolden, and Natasha Ryan. (79 minutes, 1980)

It's the Rage: The lives of a group of seemingly distinct individuals are connected by personal problems which lead to resolutions with guns. This loud satire of individual and cultural brutality gets worse as it goes along, regardless of the attempts of an excellent cast. Cast includes Joan Allen, Jeff Daniels, Andre Braugher, Gary Sinise, Josh Brolin, Robert Forster, and Anna Paquin. (97 minutes, 2000)

The Egg and I: Colbert is admirable as a city gal who weds poultry farmer MacMurray and battles to make things work on his farm. Cast includes Claudette Colbert, Fred MacMurray, Marjorie Prime, Louise Allbritton, Percy Kilbride, Richard Long, Donald MacBride, and Samuel S. Hinds. (108 minutes, 1947)
