The Wonders of Australia

Tuesday, June 30, 2009 · 0 comments

Australia is a great place to visit because of its natural beauty. There are many great things to see and do in the country such as visiting the great barrier reef, seeing Uluru, laying on beaches, and enjoying wonderful tropical jungles. Australia is a great country for those who like adventure activities.

Kakadu is one of the best national parks in Australia and offers some of the most stunning wildlife you can find on the continent. Saltwater crocodiles can be found all over the park so be careful where you swim. This is an ancient home to many of the native Aborigines so you'll be able to learn a lot about their culture and see ancient cave paintings. Moreover, there are stunning vistas and gorges to traverse.

Uluru (Ayers Rock) is probably the best known natural icon in Australia, and no list of could be complete without it. The iron content in the rock makes its colors change through the course of a day from bright to dark red. Sacred to the local aboriginal people, it is also of great cultural significance as well as natural significance. Often overlooked, nearby Kata Tjuta is actually higher than Uluru, but has been eroded into several pieces.

One of the most overlooked places in all of Australia is Tasmania. Here you'll find unspoiled wilderness and beaches. During the winter, it can get quite cold but the summer time is great for hiking and swimming. Since most people skip this place, you'll find you won't have to via for any of the good views or beaches from other tourists. No trip to Australia would be complete without it.

Had this list been created 30 years ago, the Bungle Bungles might not have been listed. Having come to the worlds attention only in the mid-1980s, the bee hive domes of the Bungles make Purnululu National Park the premier attraction in the Kimberly region of Western Australia. Difficult to get to, what makes the Bungles fascinating are the unique erosional features which are unlike anything else in the world.

In addition, to the animal life, this part of Australia is known for its isolation and remoteness. The native aboriginal peoples often spoke of the "walkabout" a solitary journey into the bush of the outback in order to find one's self. Today, modern travelers from the west often attempt to emulate this ancient ritual in an attempt to connect with nature and to leave the rat race fully behind them. Whether you make the journey alone, like the natives once did, or whether you choose to bring along your friends or loved ones, you are sure to find an excursion into the outback rewarding and therapeutic.

It Doesn't Have To Be Hard to Decide On Your First Golf Set

By Frank Froggatt

The various varieties of golf equipment can be a bit confusing for the novice. That's why a Beginner Golf Set is advisable. If you make this choice, it is usually a lot less expensive and it takes all the work out of the decision-making. You, as a beginning golfer, need to hone your skills, and with time this will surely take place with practice. You only need to select clubs that are compatible with your ability, and as you get better you can upgrade to higher-quality clubs.

Getting the basics is the key and there is no need to buy a lot of different clubs to start with. As an example, you could probably find in an ordinary beginner golf seta stand bag with a 450cc Driver, Hybrid 4-Wood, Irons, Fairway 3 Wood, and a Silver Diamond Putter.. A sufficient number of clubs should be around 14.Some people prefer to use a long iron in place of the hybrid as they simply prefer it. Many beginners have hybrids because they do the job of the fairway wood and the long iron in one club.

Selecting the right driver is important, and you need to consider the appropriate loft as well as the shaft flex and the grip. A regular shaft will be more flexible, as opposed to a stiff shaft that may be difficult to get a decent swing speed with. Most novices find that the clubs that they tend to use most often are the 7-iron and the pitching wedge. Probably one of the next buys you will make is a sand wedge which is a real benefit to helping you get out of the bunkers. Some good advice for someone who is just starting out in buying clubs, is to buy cavity back clubs over the option of forged blades. You could of course purchase every piece of equipment separately, but you will get a much better deal buying it just a beginner golf set. If you keep everything in good condition, you may be able to sell it on when you reach the point where you want to upgrade.

Sometimes you can get the sets with extra accessories so you want to keep an eye out for real deals. They almost always come with a basic stand bag. You might also get some tees with the set. There are tons of different brands of golf balls on the market, and of the most expensive brands aren't going to benefit you as a novice any at all. The priority at this stage is to get distance on the ball, so the less expensive two-piece with a hard center is ideal.

After you have picked up your beginning golf set, you need to take into consideration some of the other items that you are going to need that probably weren't included with your set. Some of the essentials will include a well fitting golf glove, a pair of golf shoes, and a nice set of waterproof clothing. You're also going to want to get in a bit of extra practice, so you might think of this in addition. Chipping nets are a lot of fun and good training. Rainy days need not be golf free with a putting machine, which can be used indoors.

You can find these items at many specialist golf scores, general sports stores, or from a many online locations as well. Often times golf magazines will run competitions that you can win a golf equipment from, or you can just browse your local classified section and search for the beginning golf sets.

College vs. Professional Sports - Which Do You Prefer?

By Denise I Smithson

Sports fans have always debated the merits of college athletics versus the competition of professional sports leagues; they probably always will. There are fans on either side of the divide, both convinced that their preference is backed by the facts. Others have different preferences for different sports, preferring professional football but college basketball, etc. Football and basketball are in fact the two sports which seem to spark the most passion in fans over this issue.

Collegiate basketball has an amazing thing working in its advantage, the March Madness tournament. It's a fantastic time of the year when anything is possible. Teams that are outmatched and unheard of can get it together for one night and beat an established power. Dozens and dozens of games are held in a short amount of time, meaning there is jam packed action. There is of course ample room for betting, which adds to people's interest in the event.

College basketball fans argue that the collegiate form of the sport is purer, with most of the players in it simply for the love of the game. The passion of the players is matched by that of the fans, many of whom have lifelong loyalty to their favorite teams, often exceeding that accorded to the NBA teams.

Professional basketball fans aren't necessarily given to knocking college basketball (since many if not most fans actually enjoy both), but argue that the NBA offers a superior level of play and competition. They aver that the league provides fans with an opportunity to watch the sport played by the nation's very best players.

The seven game series which make up the NBA playoffs are pointed to by fans as a way of guaranteeing that the best team will emerge victorious. While it's hard to claim that the NBA playoffs offer more excitement than March Madness, they also make the point that regular season games are more compelling events.

As far as football is concerned, the talk almost always comes back to the playoffs. NFL proponents point to the Bowl Championship Series, which they argue is inherently unfair. It is certainly true that the college playoffs don't offer the teams a chance to prove their merit through direct competition. Instead, the playoffs are put together through polling and computerized analysis. A team could be the best in the country and still have no chance to make it to the Rose Bowl unless they are ranked first or second by this curious system - making the college football playoffs something many fans skip (unless their alma mater happens to be in the running).

College football fans counter this argument by saying that the format of the championship games means that the regular season is far more competitive and exciting for the fans. Teams can be eliminated from a shot at the championship by even one loss, making every game vitally important. In the NFL, they claim, the fact that a team can come back from a mediocre season actually makes the regular NFL season less interesting (something that NFL fans tend to find backwards thinking on the matter).

Each side in this long running debate is unlikely to change any minds on the other side and this is one place where fans simply have to agree to disagree - though many fans find a lot of enjoyment in the discussion itself. What it really comes down to is something that the fans already know: they don't have to choose one or the other and there's nothing stopping them from enjoying all of the excitement that collegiate and professional sports have to offer.

Learn How To Bend Wood Easily - Woodworking Plans

By Ryan Henders

How many times have you gone and purchased a piece of wood and got it home and cursed it because it has a bend it in. Then as you move along into your woodworking hobby, you discover that there are times that; you wish you could bend the wood. Well actually, you can and there are a few methods not all that difficult to do to help you achieve this. There are methods such steam bending or microwave steaming. Then there are Kerf cut bending or laminated wood bending, so you can see there are a few options ahead of you.

Don?t even think about attempting to bend wood without a form. When you have removed the treated wood from the steam box you need to get it clamped into place as quickly as possible and that?s where the form comes into play. You can easily make your own forms with several layers of MDF.

Now let?s look at micro waving wood. Naturally you aren?t going to get a big piece of wood into your microwave so this is just for small pieces. Wrap the piecedin a wet paper towel and nuke it for only a few seconds. It works just like a steam box. You will have to experiment with the time because of the variations in the wood.

The most tried and true method for wood bending is the steam method. You will need to make a steam box so you need a heat source, a container to hold the water, which is going to be heated, and a hose for the steam to pass through. A separate box is needed for the wood that is going to be treated. For your heat source it doesn?t have to be anything elaborate it cane even be a hot plate. Nothing with open flames though. A teakettle makes a great water container but you have to be able to modify it so you can add a hose to it.

For the steam box, you can use any type of pipe or wooden box that you construct yourself. The steam has to be able to escape though or you will end up with an explosion. You must be very careful not to get burnt when doing this the steam is extremely hot and heats up everything. Make sure you wear gloves. Again making sure that you, steam has a way of escaping you can start off with about an hour of this treatment; you may need more again depending on the variation of the wood.

Laminated wood is much easier to bend because of its thickness. You will need the form but not the other equipment. Make sure the piece you are bending is longer than you need and it must be thin. Then you just glue the layers together as you stack them in the form and clamp them. Once dry trim the edges.

Kerf cut bending is just a simple procedure of cutting slots across the wood. These are done on the inside of the bend.

The Muscles Defined

By Robyno Jamison

Forget Size Get Defined

If you want a great body then don't be tempted to just go for size, muscle definition is a far better look, separate rather than build bulk.

Whether you are man or woman a strong muscular body looks great, but you don't have to have great big bulging muscles to achieve it. The best looking bodies are those that have muscle definition not bulk and size.

Now if you are, or looking to be a competing Bodybuilder then fine you have got to get those muscles big to stand a chance of winning any competitions. Although that said I do think that the size of some of these competing Bodybuilders has gone just a little to far, they just don't look real bodies any more which is a shame as it is a great sport and one I have always enjoyed.

I think the ladies tend to get it right when developing their bodies, they get a pretty even proportion of muscle. it is sometimes different with the guys as they want big so they hit their arms and chest mainly while bulking up their weight.

So it is mainly the men that get it a bit wrong because they concentrate on two groups of muscle instead of the body as a whole you can get that undesirable look, which is a normal torso without any definition with big over developed pectorials and huge biceps all standing on to very thin not worked out at all legs. Not a look the women really search for is it.

So do we really need size if we don't compete. It has got to be a body that has well defined muscles that is the best look one that is ripped rather then covered in fat from bulking up. After all later on in life when we get older the more size there is the more there is to drop, if you are trim and defined there is less to maintain.

The effort needed to put into creating size is far more than fine tuning the size that you already have and apart from it actually looking more natural, it just looks better period. The other point to make is that you probably won't have to change your whole wardrobe because your overall size is roughly the same just more toned. If you like size though then don't listen to me it's only my view.

If you want the lean ripped body then you don't need those real heavy weights with low reps, instead you can go for lighter weights and more reps and really burn the fat away from those muscles. But ultimately the choice is yours to go for lean muscle definition or big muscle bulk, either way enjoy your training.

Working On Cruise Ships

By Bretski Tyler

There are many different types of people who find themselves craving a bit of adventure, yet don't have the funds to just go off into the wild blue yonder. Some go backpacking - working along the way picking fruit or doing bar jobs. Others choose to set sail on the many different cruise ship operators around the world. The major difference I guess would be that you are being paid to travel around the globe instead of going from place to place earning enough money to move on to the next destination.

Working on a cruise ship often invokes images of adventure, fun, alcohol and lots of sex. Speaking as one who has done it all this and more is all true.

When you work on a cruise ship you eat, sleep and breathe life on the seas. A major bonus of being part of a cruise ship crew is that you are being paid to have fun and adventure. Alcohol is cheap as chips (as little as a dollar a drink), and you'll find yourself amongst likeminded people who all want the same things. Not to mention that there is a lot of room swapping and sleepovers.

One of the great advantages of working on a cruise ship is that everything is paid for; your food, your board and the pay can be quite substantial. Individuals who have done it for a few years often one there houses outright and people who have made careers out of it could be considered quite wealthy.

It must be mentioned that cruise ship life is not always for everyone and there have been people who have signed on only to catch the next plane home again. Yet those that are more willing to give things a go and get along with people, find that they have the time of their lives. As part of working on the ships, you end up making friends with people from all over the world. One thing to keep in mind that cruise ship life can be intense. Allot of cruise ships operate 24/7 and therefore you could find yourself having time off rather than whole days. However the people I have come across do not find this to be an issue as the work they do is totally an enjoyable experience.

Another thing to consider is that different cruise ship companies allow different levels of freedom or privileges for crew on the ship. Disney for instance, as they are a Christian Family values type company can be quite restrictive on what crewmembers are allowed to do whilst living on their ships. For example I believe that you must be a non-smoker to be employed by Disney and the consumption of alcohol by crewmembers might be very restrictive. As far as I can tell, the best cruise ship to work for at this stage is Princess Cruises where they allow crewmembers the most freedom and the best pay rates.

If you are considering working on cruise ships for an adventure or simply for the money. It is not a decision that one should just jump into. You must consider that there are things such as an initial expense to get on the cruise ship that might include a full medical, training in sea safety as well as travelling expenses to meet up with the cruise ship, all of which thereafter is generally paid for by the company. You must be committed to the lifestyle for the next 6-8 months and you will be separated from current friends and family only being able to communicate via email and letters or phone calls when in port. (Although most cruise ship companies offer very cheap deals for family members to visit). If you do decide to take on the challenge and embrace the culture then you will surely come away with an experience of a lifetime.

Road Law

By Johann Ken Flanders

The laws of the road are the rules that all road users must abide by. They are for cyclists and motorists to pay particular attention to, although they are meant for all road users.

The basic road rules are written in an agreement, internationally recognised under the authority of the UN and are in place to govern the actions taken between road users, and between road users and pedestrians.

There are different local variations of these laws to be found throughout the UN and on top of these, there are some unspoken rules that road users are universally aware of.

As a general rule, and rather an obvious one, drivers are expected to avoid colliding with pedestrians or another vehicle, whether or not the set-in-stone road rules allow them to be where they are.

There are traffic lights and signs which need to be adhered to at all times as well as the written and unwritten sets of rules. Police officers are somtimes used instead of traffic lights and signs in heavily congested areas such as an accident zone, a busy crossing or any kind of traffic disruption.

These road laws, as with any set of laws, get broken, by accident more often than not. But, if you have been unfortunate enough to have accidently broken any of the laws of the road, your initial thought should be towards a professional soliciter with particular expertise in road law and ample experience.

If you have an experienced solicitor who knows all the laws of the road inside out, that can really be an invaluable asset when you need it most, in court (should it go that far).

Your ideal candidate will be a specialist road law firm as they will undoubtedly provide a better and more knowledgeable service than traditional law firms that dabble around in all areas of the law.

Take A Break, Have Weekend Breaks In UK

By Arthur Townlands

Do you want to go away but your boss is not approving your leave? You can still take a vacation on your weekend, you do not need to take time off work in that case. Weekend breaks in UK are becoming very popular with the young and working people. When you are so busy, what you need is a good break. Even if you do not have time to plan, you can still just start driving.

Even a night or two nights in the Scottish villages is well worth it. The countryside and history are just marvelous. They are tranquil and really leave you refreshed with their beauty and fresh look. Of course if you either live in the city or close to the cities such as Dublin, London, Edinburgh and Birmingham, they are great locations. The Old Shea Stadium

By Denise I Smithson

Shea Stadium. Oh, the memories that are evoked by those two words. It's hard to believe that it's gone after 44 years. It is even harder to think of the Mets as being an expansion team. Haven't they been around forever? Oh, and for all you trivia buffs out there Shea Stadium was formerly known as the Flushing Meadow Park Municipal Stadium.

Through the years Shea Stadium has been the home to some of the greatest baseball players ever to pick up a bat. Players like Duke Snider, Nolan Ryan, Warren Spahn, Tom Seaver, Willie Mays, Eddie Murray, Yogi Berra, Casey Stengel, Richie Ashburn, and Gary Carter who all became heroes in the baseball Hall of Fame. And who can forget the entertaining players like Lenny "Nails" Dykstra and Gil Hodges who just toughed it out on a daily basis?

Yes, there have been lots of good times and a few bad times; we've been confronted with ugly and outrageous behavior of players and fans, but in the end we have some awesome memories woven into the fabric of the stadium's history. Take the 1986 Mets versus Boston Red Sox World Series game, for example, where we watched Dwight Gooden and Daryl Strawberry take the Mets to a victorious climax, winning the World Series that year. Regrettably, the notoriety and high living took its toll as both players spent the remaining years of their baseball careers dealing with the consequences of drug use and other problems.

In 1969 we saw the Amazin' Mets win their first Championship when no one really knew of the young Nolan Ryan who would spend the next 27 years earning the record of the player who struck out 5,714 batters. Remarkable moments like these abound throughout the history of Shea Stadium; in fact, one could literally write a book about the colorful and extraordinary events. And although a new chapter in the stadium's history begins, those special memories of the past will live in the hearts of Mets' fans around the world for eternity.

After the tragic and shocking events of 9/11, Shea Stadium became the central hub for supplies, food and a place of refuge for many 9/11 victims. On September 21, the Mets helped New Yorkers to heal by providing the first sporting event to be held after that tragic day. New Yorkers will tell you it was one of the most stirring nights ever in baseball history. With tens of thousands of fans packing the stadium to watch the Mets take on the Braves, the team honored New York's finest, those brave men and women who worked tirelessly to help the 9/11 victims, and then went on to play a great game. Shea Stadium is truly a place like no other. It will always be remembered with fondness and with the eager anticipation of another 50 years of baseball history.

Famous Film Locations in the Cotswolds

By Anna Phillips

Have you ever wondered where those memorable scenes and picturesque locations of famous movies were filmed? An avid movie fan like me would love spotting famous movie locations in this scenic place in west-central England, also referred to as the "Heart of England". It comes as no surprise that a lot of real life and fantasy cinema films such as Bridget Jones's Diary, Pride and Prejudice, James Bond's Die Another Day, Vanity Fair and the widely popular Harry Potter Adventures were shot in the Cotswolds. Let me give you a brief background of this intriguing place.

This historical part of England known as the Cotswolds flourishes in history and heritage, and surrounded with extraordinary beauty. Its delightful blend of sleepy villages, busy market towns and grand natural scenery will absolutely delight any seasoned traveller.

Officially declared as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1966, it is one of the largest of 40 AONBs in England and Wales since the environment remains unspoiled. Here are noteworthy locations which inspired some Hollywood producers, from James Bond to Bridget Jones' Diary films.

Bridget Jones' Diary (2000), which stars Funny lady Rennee Zellweger and Hugh Grant was filmed in the quiet village of Snowshill in Gloucestershire. Harry Potter scenes from the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry were shot in Gloucester Cathedral. Oxford University came alive on the big screen for most of the scenes at school. Oxford University took center stage on Bourne Ultimatum (2007) and the Madness of King George (1994).

Bourton-on-the-Water, widely known as the "little Venice" of the Cotswolds, became the location for the ice chase scenes of the action movie Die Another Day (2002). The unforgettable car chase scenes were filmed on the runway of the Royal Air Force aircraft at the Upper Rissington. Remains of the Day (1993) starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson made Badminton House and Dyrham Park near Chippenham the set of this movie. A number of scenes were taken in Corsham Court in Wiltshire.

Notable movies that were filmed in the Cotswolds include the box office hit Stardust (2007) shot in Bibury which featured Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert de Niro. The Other Boleyn Girl, starring Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson featured the grandeur of Berkeley Castle. Bath City was the cinematic inspiration behind The Duchess starring Keira Knightley.

The extraordinary tale of Vanity Fair (2004) was filmed in Stanway House near Winchcombe in Bath. The Libertine (2004) starring Johnny Depp as the romantic Earl of Rochester was also filmed in the same location. Luckington Court near Chippenham in Wiltshire came alive on the big screen in Pride and Prejudice (2005).

Many epic movies are shot on location in this antiquated location. The Cotswolds offer a splendid view of the countryside for vacationers, as well as fabulous movie locations!

Kobe Bryant Bio

By Denise I Smithson

Kobe Bean Bryant, named after the Japanese beef, is the shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. This American All-Star, along with Shaquille O'Neal led the team to three consecutive NBA Championships form 2000 to 2002, making both of them household names.

After O'Neal's retirement in 2003, Bryant was the brightest star on the Lakers, becoming the NBA's highest scorer in the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons. An 11 time NBA All-Star, Bryant is also a 3 time NBA Champion, the 2008 NBA MVP and a gold medalist as a member of the US Olympic Men's Basketball Team in the 2008 Summer games.

Bryant has spent his entire life around the sport; his father was a player for the Philadelphia 76'ers and also coached the Los Angeles Sparks while Kobe was a child. Basketball almost lost Bryant to soccer when the Bryant family moved to Italy and he took an interest in soccer.

When his family returned to the US in 1991, Bryant began playing on his high school basketball team, where he was a star player. He decided against college despite his good academic record, instead entering the NBA at 17. His parents had to co-sign his contract with the Lakers, since he was still a minor; Bryant became the youngest person ever to start in an NBA game.

In his first year, he earned a spot on the NBA All Rookie second team and gained recognition by winning the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest. By 1998-99, he was a premiere guard in the league and being compared to basketball greats like Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson. In 1999, with new coach of the Lakers, Phil Jackson, he started his rise to the elite class as one of the best shooting guards in the league.

During the 2002-2003 season, Bryant averaged 30 points per game, posting 40 or more in nine games in a row! He was also voted to the All Defensive 1st Team and the All NBA team in this season. However, his reputation was badly tarnished before the following season due to his arrest for sexual assault.

In the 2003-04 season, his coach would write that Bryant had become uncoachable and he was being scrutinized and criticized. While Kobe was the NBA's second leading scorer, the Lakers missed the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. Kobe's status dropped with the NBA that year.

His next two seasons were not among his best; however, this was until breaking a Lakers record by scoring 81 points in a single game and amassing the second highest point total in the history of the NBA. His jersey became the top selling jersey in the US and China during the 2006-2007 season. He became the youngest player to ever reach a career total of 20,000 points in December 2007, when he was 29.

Bryant's appearance in the 2008 Olympics cemented his status as an international star. It was his first appearance in the Olympic Games, but Bryant was hardly a rookie when he became a gold medalist. Bryant has set and broken several records in his career.

Basic Golfing Tips for Beginners: 2

By Rhys Jones

What You Should Keep in your Golfing Bag.

There is quite a selection of golf bags on the market: some are very pretty, designer bags, made for looking good; others are practical golf bags designed by golfers for golfers and some are half-way between the two types. Then there is 'big', 'bigger' and 'ginormous' - big enough to use as a suitcase.

Generally speaking, you need a bag which is just large enough to hold your clubs, extra balls, your glove, tees, car keys, extra pencils, ball markers, a ball retriever, sunscreen, a windbreaker and a large umbrella.

You could also include other items that are handy when outdoors, such as tissues, a small first-aid kit or at least some plasters and some anti-insect spray.

A small pack of baby wipes comes in very handy; in your bag they get warmed by the heat, so when you get sweaty or a sand trap covers you with sand, a nice warm wipe can be very refreshing.

If you suffer from any allergies or illnesses, it is a wise precaution to carry antidotes with you. For example, if you are sensitive to bee stings then anti-hystamine or whatever you take if you are a diabetic. However, remember to replace drugs before their expiry date.

Please remember to turn off your mobile phone before you put it away as a courtesy to the other players. No one is going to be best pleased to hear your phone go off just as he is about to take a shot. It is part of golfing etiquette too. If you must use it, walk away from the teams.

If you have these items with you in your golf bag, you will be covered for most minor tribulations, like a bee sting, an ant bite, a blister or even a sudden downpour. If you know that you are well prepared, you will be able to relax that little bit more and enjoy your game that much more too.

Here's Some Of The Facts You Need To Know About Bass Fishing Boats

By Chris Douglas

Numerous polls have been conducted over the years, and whenever the question of "what is your favorite hobby or pastime or sports activity" was asked, the largest number of responders answered with fishing. Fishing is an activity where you can be as down to earth as with your little line, pole, and bait bucket on the bank of a body of water, or reach for the sky in extravagance as you outfit yourself with the cutting edge in gear and the best in boats. Most fishermen preferred to be on the water when fishing and were the most enamored of bass fishing in their preferences for fishing types, so the next step is to consider bass fishing boats.

These boats can be divided into two main categories when you are thinking about purchasing one, and those are aluminum bass fishing boats, or fiberglass models. The biggest difference between these types is the fact that aluminum is subject to rusting because of the fact that the skin of the boat is welded together and has rivets holding the pieces of that skin intact; and aluminum will suffer from bangs and dings and damage, whereas fiberglass will not. Fiberglass is far more durable than aluminum, is usually lighter in weight, is easier to store because it affords a much drier storage for maintenance, and won't rust. What the boat is made of and where you will be storing it should be part of your decision in choosing a boat when you are looking at bass fishing boats.

When you start investigating the many types of bass fishing boats that are out there on the market, you will find a dizzying array of sizes, shapes, how they are outfitted, and the different features that are on the various types of boats to fulfill the specific purpose of the type of fishing you will be doing. The more common types of boats are all purpose boats, bass boats, aluminum fishing boats, center console boats, dinghies, flat boats, jon boats, electric boats; the list goes on and on. The differences between boat types are for a reason, for example flat boats are designed to be used in very shallow waters and can be propelled with a small electric motor to sneak up on the fish. Center console boats are more often used for fishing off shore and are designed to withstand rougher waters and deeper waters if you are into salt water fishing. All purpose boats are just as the name implies, and can be used in most situations where bass fishing boats are needed.

Another area that needs to be examined when you are choosing a fishing boat is what features come with that boat and just how many features do you need without depleting your bank account. Most bass fishing boats are designed to fall into the size range of 16 ft. to 26 ft. and are built to carry up to 5 people max. They are usually outfitted to be trailerable, and come with features like live-wells, rod holders, cup holders, various types of motors that can be used on them such as outboards or electric trolling motors. The horsepower in these various motors can range from 25 to 150 on most boats and will get you where you need to go as well as move you around easily on the water when you are actually fishing.

There are many regulations regarding fishing of all types and bass fishing is no exception. Mandatory requirements on all bass fishing boats are live-wells and an electric trolling motor on the bow of the boat. You cannot overload the boat with supplies and people, not only for the factor of weight management, but also maneuverability of the boat and ease of operation and for some people that can be a problem. Make sure before you start out that you know what features are available on your boat of choice and which ones are required by law, so that you are not claiming ignorance of the law if you are caught with your pants down because you did not avail yourself of the necessary information before getting on the boat.

Safety is one the most concerns that people have when out on a boat, and the number one factor in making sure you are protected is that everyone on the boat should be wearing a life jacket. The other main thing to remember is to have fire extinguishers on board and located in strategic places where they will do the most good in the time of need. Have them accessible and placed near the motor or the engine, and near the galley where most fires are likely to occur. Just using common sense and making sure that these rules are followed will ensure that your day will be a fun one and not marred by tragedy.

With all the choices that are out there in bass fishing boats, and all the gear and paraphernalia that goes with them, to get the most bang for your buck, you should do your homework and be prepared before you go shopping. Stick to your budget and keep your emphasis on safety first and fun second, and your foray into the world of bass fishing boats will be a satisfying one and will keep you from having to rob a bank to pay for the boat. Bass fishing is a wonderful, relaxing, and fun-filled adventure, and can become your number one favorite past time as well, as long as you have covered all your bases and made the correct choices in boats and gear so you can make the most out of every fishing trip you go on.

Building Your Own Shed V.S Using A Custom Shed Plan

By Ryan Henders

Are you looking for a storage shed and indecided on the type or size you need? They all have some great features but just not everything you want. You may be feeling that you are going to have to settle for the next best thing but that's really not the case. You can build your own custom storage shed just from some basic plans and even customize those plans to fit your exact liking.

If you only have a few items and don?t anticipate having too many storable items, in the future you are probably better off just to make due with a pre fab. Although as we discussed there are many benefits to building your own unit from the ground up. You will be able to customize the size, which wouldn?t be an option with a prefab.

Another benefit to building your own outdoor shed is you are going to be able to pick the material that best suits the customized style that you are going with. You will have had to plan your design prior to starting so you already know exactly what materials you are going to need. It may save you some extra money in the long run as well. If there happens to be some materials on sale that you can fit into your overall plan then you will have some extra savings.

The same applies to windows if you are going to be installing windows in your custom shed. If there are some on sale, why not build around the sale. It made mean a few alterations to your plans but if it means extra savings then all the better.

Another benefit is when it comes to space. If you had gone with a prefab then you would have to have that specific size space available. Perhaps the space you have for your shed is an odd or irregular size. This is not going to be a problem with your customized built one because you can make your plans according to spec. Another option is if you have an area that is not in plain view then you don?t have to worry about it being as esthetically attractive and it gives you the option of going with sidings like metal or vinyl as opposed to wood. Most individuals prefer the wood siding if the shed is going to be in plain view.

Ideally, to initially start getting some ideas take a look around the garden and home improvement centers and pick out some things that you like about the sheds you see there. Then you can incorporate them into your customized plans perhaps.

You can see that by being creative and innovative you can build yourself a really nice outdoor shed for much less money than you may have spent on a pre fab one. Plus it has everything you wanted and most likely is much better quality. In the end not only was it worth the time and effort you get to enjoy all of the other benefits of a customized shed.

The Preservation Treatments For Your Garden Shed

By Spencer Wilkins

Today the majority of garden sheds today will need to be taken care of regularly to last unless they have been made using cedar or pressure treated wood. Although most sheds for the garden will have a wood based primer coating on them this generally isn't enough to protect them from the elements and ensure that they last for many years to come. In this article we look at the types of garden shed treatments and why needed.

So what reason is there for you regularly treating a garden shed after it has been built? The main reason to treat a garden shed using treatments such as those we mention below is to length the life span of it. The problem with the wood used in most garden sheds today unless it is cedar or pressure treated is it is not very resilient and changes in the climate causing it to deteriorate very quickly. But applying the right sorts of garden shed treatments provides protection from the elements and prevents them from getting into the wood and causing it to become damaged.

Above we have shown why there is a need for treating garden sheds and now let us look at the kinds of treatments to consider using.

Treatment 1 - A Creosote Substitute

You will find that this treatment is available under a number of different names including ones such as Creotreat or Creotech. To really ensure that your shed remains in good condition mix 5 parts of this treatment with 1 part clean engine oil. The oil is needed because it prevents the wood from becoming brittle or from cracking and provides some waterproofing to the wood as well.

This is a treatment which is very easy to apply and can be done using a sprayer. This is also the cheapest of all the ways of treating a garden shed to increase the length of time it lasts once constructed. The only real down side to using this particular type of garden shed treatment is that it only comes in one colour and that is brown.

Treatment 2 " Wood Preservative

This particular treatment can either be used as the main treatment or to act as a base coat prior to the garden shed being painted. If you are going to use this as the base coat before painting make sure that it is one over which paint can be applied because if you don't then when you do paint the shed it will just slide off the woods surface. Also you should use a spirit rather than a wood based preservative as this will help to ensure more of it is soaked into the wood providing high levels of protection for the shed from the elements.

Treatment 3 " Combined Preservative, Colour and Waterproof Agent

Today of all the types of garden shed treatments available these ones are proving extremely popular. If you do intend to use this type of treatment as with 2 mentioned above it is far better if you use a spirit rather than water based one. Also you need to look whether the wood is planed or not before you applying any of these treatments. If the wood is planed and you use a treatment that isn't suitable for it then shortly after applying it will begin to peel and the wood becomes open to the elements. There are numerous advantages to using this type of treatment over the others. It is easy and quick to apply and it also comes in a wide array of colours.

Woodworking Tips - Refinishing a Butcher Block Top

By Ryan Henders

Most often we move into a new house and find a built in butcher block top. At first, it looks great but on closer inspection, it doesn't look so good. Butcher blocks aren't something new on the market or even old fashion like from the 70?s. They go back hundreds of years. At that time, the favored wood was maple or various other types of hardwood. In today?s building of the butcher blocks, they are quite often made from imported hardwoods, which gives a bit more of a variety. It must be remember that years ago there wasn?t the equipment for slicing meat that we have today. Back in the good old days, it was a lot of arm work and a good cleaver that was used to cut the meats. So needless to say why a butcher block was in order.

In our modern kitchens today, we are far gentler with our butcher-block tops and in most cases, we opt to use a cutting board and leave the butcher block top for esthetic purposes.

You can restore your butcher block if is showing the worst for wear and tear. The first thing you need to do is sand it down. This will remove the other varnish and urethane that probably has begun to chip anyway. It depends on just how bad the condition of the butcher block is to determine the sanding techniques. If it?s very bad then start with an 80 grit sandpaper. Then each time you sand it reduce the grits. This mean each application of sanding is being used with finer sandpapers. The purpose of this is the heavy grit removes the gouges out of the wood but the finer sandpaper removes the scratches made from the previous sandpapers. It actually turns out to be a process of elimination.

One thing you need to remember though when you are sanding out all these gouges the top is going to become uneven with a lot of dips in it. The best thing is to leave some of the deeper gouges. Besides, it adds character to it.

Once you have your butcher block back in condition you need to treat it. Don?t use the urethanes and varnishes that are used on regular furniture. Instead use a good finish of food grade mineral oil. Don?t us your regular cooking oils because they spoil and leave a bad taste on the food. All you do is with the mineral oil is wipe it onto the surface of the butcher block and you will see it rapidly soak in. Keep doing this until the wood has become saturated then remove the excess. Ideally, this should be done one a month. Then ideally, to finish it off perfectly a good coat of beeswax is in order. The food grade mineral oil soaked into the wood but the beeswax will sit on top and give it added protection. It retards moisture and bacteria from getting into the wood surface.

The one thing you want to avoid is having your butcher block becoming too wet. They are made from wood so naturally the moisture is going to eventually break it down. If it becomes too moist the wood swells then the butcher block begins to swell then as it dries out it begins to crack. The same effects can occur from the wood drying out too much as well.

Soar through the sky in a hot air balloon as it becomes part of the wind and glides effortlessly above the hills and bed and breakfast inns - a calm, peaceful and relaxing way to panoramically take in the enormity of the Pacific Ocean and San Diego countryside. Hot air balloon companies offer daily sunrise and sunset tours from a site near the Del Mar fairgrounds and race track. You'll float eastward towards Rancho Santa Fe and the Cuyamaca Mountains and experience rare views of the San Diego coastline from San Clemente all the way to Mexico.

Many describe flying in a hot air balloon as one of the most serene, enjoyable activities they've ever experienced. Sunny skies and heavenly sunsets allow you to experience what it's like to float among the clouds. If you're staying at a hotel in Del Mar, you can experience the views of a lifetime with Skysurfrer Balloon Tours, Magical Adventures or Sky's The Limit Balloon Adventures. Google or Bing! them for more information.

4. Life Is A Beach

For good reason, Del Mar is one of the most popular beach communities in San Diego County. With more than two miles of world-class beaches, the usually warm, calm water makes for near-perfect conditions for surfing, swimming, boogie boarding or just catching up on that beach novel. Del Mar also has two seaside parks - Seagrove and Powerhouse, both great for picnicking, playgrounds for the kids and stunning ocean views. Often referred to as "Malibu South," Del Mar beaches have gentle waves and warm water, making them the perfect beaches to learn to surf. Beachgoers can also find good, cheap lunches at Roberto's Mexican Restaurant on Carmel Valley Road just east of the Penasquitos Lagoon parking lot. Out-of-town visitors love the quiet, romantic Encinitas Bed & Breakfast near the ocean, Inn at Moonlight Beach.

5. Pedal Around Town

Go for a bike ride, a great way to stay fit, beat the traffic and see all the sights Del Mar has to offer. If you're staying at one of the many Del Mar Hotels or Bed and Breakfasts, there is no better way to get around town. You can ride down quiet residential streets along the ocean and see sights you'll never see from a car. Del Mar Cycle Works (619) 793-9097 has a great selection of road and mountain bikes, helmets, lights, bike bags, bicycle parts, and bike repair services. With Del Mar's almost-too-good-to-be-true year-around weather, bicycling is a way of life with dozens of paths and bike trails so you can relax, exercise and explore.

Where To Stay In Havana?

Saturday, June 27, 2009 · 0 comments

By Jose Garces

This is quite a frequent question I get from travelers interested in staying in Havana so I thought why not to publish my recommendations on the best hotels in Havana.

Most people?s preference in terms of location is hotels which are located in the Old Town area. This municipality is blessed with so many beautiful old palaces and fortresses dating back from the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Century.

I will start with Santa Isabel Hotel. It only counts 27 rooms, most of them with fantastic views. This four stars plus hotel really transport you back in time. Santa Isabel hotel needs to be booked well in advance. In spite of being an expensive one; the fact that it has few rooms makes it a difficult one to get, especially in high season.

I definitely recommend the junior suites at Saratoga Hotel as these ones do have balconies overlooking the streets of surrounding the Capitol of Havana ? an area that many consider the most interesting in terms of places o visit.

NH Parque Central is another 5 star hotel in the old town that I like to recommend particularly for its high standard of service and excellent food. This hotel is also located in Paseo del Prado Promenade and it was erected over the ruins of a collapsed building about 10 years ago.

There are lots of very good hotels in the Old Town that I also like to recommend like Florida, Condes de Villa Nueva and Raquel Hotel and little but very cozy hostels like Valencia, Comendador and Beltran de Santa Cruz.

I hope I managed to give you a starting point to organizing your holidays by suggesting you the best hotels in Havana and look forward to your visit to www.quest2cuba.co.uk

The Key To Living In An RV Comfortably

By Bob Baxter

We all know that living in an RV is something that can be extremely fun and rewarding; however, there are a few things that you need to think about. Just the idea of purchasing an RV, traveling everywhere, living anywhere that you want is something fantastic and believe it or not, RVs are extremely comfortable nowadays. In this article, we are going to explore some of the tips and tricks to make sure that you can live comfortably in your RV!

This is a big undertaking, though, so it pays to consider both the pros and the cons. You might come to the realization that while extended RV trips are nice, you would rather remain in your own home. Remember, houses do have some advantages over campers and RVs. But you always have to remember that you will always be able to go back to your house. It will always be there for you.

When you live in an RV, you do not have to maintain a yard. You do not have to mow or get rid of weeds, there are no gutters to keep clean or driveways to shovel. Your neighbors will no longer disturb you - and if they do, you can move to a different site wherever you are staying. Wherever you go, you will still be at home.

Now, this next piece of advice is more conjecture and opinion, but it still goes a long way. A lot of the people who live full time in the RVs claim that they feel physically and mentally healthier and happier. They do not have any deadlines, they do not really have any stress. You have to remember that recreational vehicles are not like they used to be some years ago. You no longer have to rough it when you live or stay in one of them.

You do however have to worry about the fact that you might feel like you are falling completely out of contact with your friends and family. However, that should not be a worry any longer, for there are a ton of different ways that you can keep in touch, everything from messaging systems via the internet or even using your cell phone. Mailing a letter is a great way to ensure that you stay in touch too.

Banking is going to be an issue as well, you want to make sure that you go with a bank that is world-wide or at least nation-wide so you can find a branch easily. However, getting your bills and where you will get your medical attention should you get hurt are some things you should be thinking about.

The internet is definitely something that is incredible - if you have a laptop and do not have the means to quit bringing in money, there are a ton of different home-based businesses available that just need an internet connection. So wherever you park your RV that night, you can still work!

As you can see there really are a lot of good reasons why you should live in your RV. However, you always want to make sure that you check your pros and cons and that you weigh them out to see if this option works for you. Living in your RV is not for everyone, just remember that.

Getting Your Pets Into The Halloween Spirit

By Phil Sikes

People dress up like animals all the time for Halloween - why not go the opposite way and dress your pets up like people? After all, pets are part of the family for a lot of people. They take them everywhere, buy them gifts, get spa treatments for them - why not a Halloween costume too?

Now, it goes without saying that dressing your pet in a Halloween costume is more for the owner's enjoyment than the pet's. Having said that, you'll know your pet better than anyone.

Some pets don't like wearing clothes at all. If they are showing signs of stress or frustration, don't force your pet to wear a costume.

The best costumes for pets are the ones that don't make them feel too restricted or confined. You might be able to get away with something that goes on their head - a hat or crown perhaps - and something that ties (loosely) around their middle.

It is best to leave pet costumes simple. If they become too complex, the animal could decide that they don't want to have it on and rip up the outfit in the end anyway.

The Internet is the best place to find Halloween pet costumes, although they are also available in many pet stores as the holiday approaches. Online costume sources often have pages devoted to just pet costumes, whose sizes are usually based off of weight.

Costumes designed for pets should be made without any dangerous pieces, but you should always double check before getting your pet all dressed up. Watch for anything that could be swallowed or anything that could get tied up, whether around your pet's neck, it's legs, etc.

After all the hard work you will have done to find a costume and get it onto your pet, the most difficult part is sure to be getting the perfect picture. Though some pets will be good and sit quietly while you take a picture, for most it will require quite some effort to get your pet to calm down long enough for you to enjoy their costume.

Discover A Creative Way To Use Your Garden Shed - Shed Plan

By Ryan Henders

Many of us use outdoor garden sheds to store our equipment. There are some really nice looking sheds on the market now in fact some of them look like miniature houses. Which means that your garden shed really could serve another purpose. It could make the perfect mini guesthouse for those who you love to have visit and stay over but you just don?t have the extra room. There is a solution to this and that is using your garden shed as a mini guesthouse. Of course, it doesn?t mean you are going to put your guests in with the lawnmower and snow blower. Your garden shed must be designated as a guesthouse only.

When you stop to think about it, they really are the ideal solution for this concept. There are things that you need to consider though that perhaps are different than what you would use for your storage needs.

Ideally, you will want it to be wood and as large as you can afford. Think about what is the smallest bedroom you yourself would sleep in that you would feel comfortable. This is what you are going to be exposing your guests to. Another issue is the climate you live in. If you are in a place where its basically comfortable all year around then you won?t have to consider the cold. Therefore, you won?t need to worry about insulation. No matter what the climate though it must have windows. If not two at least one. If you do live in a colder climate you could consider insulating your shed and if it?s big enough utilizing a small tent heater during these times. This is something you must be extremely cautious about and be sure its big enough that the heater can be used well away from anything that could catch fire.

It?s got to be big enough to house a bed. Most likely, you aren?t going to want to put a king size bed in there, but there are several options. You could get a fold out couch or futon. This makes it perfect for them if they just want a quiet place to relax without having to sit on the bed. In fact you could wall mount a small TV on the wall. Be careful though you don?t want to make it too inviting or you may end up with more houseguests then you would like.

You want to install it where it will be easily assessable to the house amenities such as the washroom, or kitchen. Then again, you don?t want it too close to the house either. You want it pleasant almost like a stand-alone little cabin. You must consider the weather as well. You don?t want your guests stranded in their accommodations if there is a heavy rainstorm.

You are also going to have to run some sort of power supply for lighting so your location will be somewhat dependant on that as well.
