Consumer electronics giant Samsung has pushed the boundaries of what HDTV is with the new LN52B750 52 inch model, Seeing it in the living room was a serious 'wow' moment for me. Even though I had to rearrange furniture, this stylish set made the work and the hassle worth the effort. It's one of Samsung's biggest models, and has an array of futuristic features.

Wide Screen Magic

We mentioned the size of the thing - it's got a screen that's more than four feet across diagonally - this translates to about 44" wide by 28" tall, and is a stunning theater like feel. You can mount it on a table, but we recommend a wall bracket to put it up at the right height. The system has multiple picture modes that can be used to tune how it looks in your living room and to work with however much lighting you may have for it. In terms of display, they have it running at 240 Hz, which makes for a very sharp, fluid picture.

Clearer and Sharper Images

This model uses the latest technology in the television industry. The 1080p technology displays 1080 horizontal scan lines or 1080 lines of vertical resolution. This means, it displays more pixels than its HDTV competition, making the images clearer and sharper. The wide screen, combined with the 1080p technology, offers a rare visual treat for its viewers.

TruSurround System

The Samsung LN52B750 model comes with full surround sound capabilities, making the movie watching experience explosive and reverbatory. You can get by with the speakers that come with the system, but it has all the hookups needed to make a dedicated speaker system drive its way home, with 7.2 Dolby capabilities.

Preloaded Content Library

Something of an odd choice, the Samsung LN52B750 comes with its own content library - it's got a number of video games and a few documentary features, plus exercise videos and some entertainment options. They provide more of a way to get something out of the TV even if a TV program isn't immediately available to watch, but the likelihood of this is pretty minimal. One item of note is that the TV's online manual comes in this content as well.

Medi 2.0 Features - An HDTV And A Personal Computer

People have been trying to combine the internet and television since the days of WebTV. The Samsung LN52B750 is the latest attempt at this - it has the ability o hook up to your existing internet connection and let you go to common media related sites, like YouTube and Flickr and Facebook. While it's not the same as having a dedicated PC in the living room, it opens the door for things like Netflix On Demand streaming movies. It also comes loaded with Pandora, which is free Internet music station limited to 40 hours of music a month, or a $36/year subscription.

Futuristic Touch of Color Design

Having seen too many HDTVs that look like they were designed for some hyper futuristic sterile lab, it's nice to see that Samsung thought about making something that works with most American living rooms. It's got nice clean lines, and a narrow bezel, with a mixture of black and charcoal gray to make sure it works with most living room dcor.

This Samsung design has a lot to recommend it for anyone in the market for an HDTV. You should check out the features in person at your local electronics retailer, but also comparison shop on line, where you may get a significant discount.
