Airplane: Extremely ludicrous spoof of Airport with a nonstop amount of gags that keeps up almost to the end. Our top choice: the bizarre plight of Lt. Hurwitz. Sugar Town : Entertaining mosaic of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives dovetail: a musician wannabe who'll do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone lady who allures the incorrect men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up '80s stone megastars, to name a few. Tiny, made on a shoestring, although acute and well recognized; excellent cast contains a number of genuine-life musicians. Cast includes Supporter Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp. (92 minutes, 1999)
Great Guy: A below par Cagney in a low-budget production in regards to an inspector crusading against corruption in the beef business. Cast includes James Cagney, Mae Clarke, James Burke, Edward Brophy, Henry Kolker, Bernadene Hayes, and Edward McNamara. (75 minutes, 1936)
The illustrated Man: Youthful drifter Drivas meets tattooed man Steiger, who is looking for the strange lady (Bloom), who "illustrated" his whole body. The drifter sees futuristic stories in three of the illustrations, most of which include megastar Steiger and, or Bloom and Drivas. The film is a disheartening, dull-paced adaptation of short stories from Ray Bradbury. Cast includes Rod Steiger, Claire Bloom, Robert Drivas, Don Dubbins, Jason Evers, Ton Weldon, and Christie Matchett. (103 minutes, 1969)
Commando: Here's an extremely loud comic magazine flick in reference to a retired special ops man (Schwarzenegger), who's made to go back in time when vengeful goons abduct his child. Cast includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rae Daybreak Chong, Dan Hedaya, Vernon Wells, David Patrick Kelly, and Alyssa Milano. (88 minutes, 1985)
A Cry in The Dark: The amazing true tale of Lindy Chamberlain, an Australian female implicated of killing her infant, in spite of her claims that the youngster was taken by a dingo (a wild Australian dog). Author-director Schepisi informs his tale with nearly documentary like actuality, eloquently assaulting the format of trial by story that made Chamberlain and her spouse the most maligned couple in Australia. Streep and Neill are heartbreakingly excellent. Cast includes Meryl Streep, Sam Neill, Bruce Myles, Charles Tingwell, Notch Tate, and Lewis Fitzgerald. (121 minutes, 1988)
