Alice Sweet Alice: For profit spacecraft unwittingly takes on an extraterrestrial being that wreaks ruthless chaos on the team. This space age terror film reverts to the 1950's style, although unfolds at a determinate pace, populates the tale with fascinating, vibrant characters, and plants its good scenes very nicely. Cast includes Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Harry Dean Stanton, Yaphet Kotto, and Veronica Cartwright. (117 minutes, 1979)
The Last Time I Saw Archie: Webb's lone try at comedy has less laughs than some of his more serious films; a shame, since William Bowers' script-based on his own Army experiences had genuine potential, and Mitchum pleasantly underplays his role as the con guy. By the way, the genuine Archie Chamber sued for invasion of privacy. House of the Dead: This is a low-grade terror film, based on the video game, which charts the predictable destinies of some addle brained youngsters drawn to an island inhabited by zombies.
