1. Koh Lanta - a family paradise
Koh Lanta is a calm, quiet and unbelievably beautiful island with perfect beaches. A lot of people call Koh Lanta the "swede island" because of how many swedes that stay here for long periods of time.
Koh Lanta's own Swedish school makes it easy for families with young childres to stay for long periods of time, without having their kids getting behind in their studies. No matter your budget, at Koh Lanta everyone can find accomodation to suit their needs, from the simplest "beach shack" living to five star resorts.
2. Koh Phangan - if you want to party
At Koh Panghan expect a lot of backpackers, fast tempo and a famous party scene. This is not the place if you want to take it easy and relax with a book, especially if you arrive during the full moon party week that happens every month.
But if you do want to party with a cool mix of people from all around the world, this is the place for you. The other three weeks of the month however are much more quiet and there are beautiful beaches to explore. If you want to get here, the easiest is by boat from Ko Samui or Surat Thani.
3. Koh Jum - experience a true island paradise
Just north of Koh Lanta is Koh Jum, a much, much more relaxed island than Koh Phangan. Here you can experience a true paradise island with fantastic beaches and no nightlife or party.
There are only around ten different places to stay and they are all cheap and simple living style bungalows. The easiest way to get here is by boat from Krabi.
