Do you know who Big Tex is? Everything is bigger in Texas, and Big Tex is one guy who sure is big. You'd look up to this giant of a man, all 52 feet of him, and see him wave and smile over the people of Texas. Sometimes he even speaks; his voice reverberates all throughout the State Fair of Texas in which you'll find him.

But if you're worried about the idea of a giant guy going berserk and rampaging all over your neighborhood, never fear. Big Tex wouldn't do that, as he can't. He's not alive, for one thing. Well, not in the traditional sense of the word. Big Tex is actually an animatronic robot that looms over the Texas State Fair, watching over the many visitors that come to enjoy themselves.

However, Big Tex is more than just an animatronic robot. He is a cultural icon; having stood over the fair even back when Elvis Presley himself performed at the fair in the 1950's. The state fair just wouldn't be the same if you don't see him or here his booming voice greeting the people (Howdy, folks!). He gives life to the fair, and in this way, you can say that Big Tex is truly alive.

So, no surprises that one can see the image of Big Tex being used as inspiration for the numerous crafted items being sold at the State Fair. He is readily identifiable when the State Fair is mentioned; so adding him to a crafted item is a sure way to inject the piece with the fair's essence. Plus, having him on souvenirs will guarantee that your works will sell a bit better.

If you wish to know what's the current schedule for the State Fair of Texas, which happens every year, it's a good idea to look online at site listings. A simple search will give you the information you need and soon you'll be able to see this giant robot looming over the biggest fair in the United States.
