Knowledgeable and moving, with Hopkins in summit form and Winger his match; the aiding performers are excellent. This was filmed on location at Oxford. Sodom and Gomorrah: Lavish retelling of life in biblical double cities of transgression. Hefty cast, lucid scenes of vice, gore, and the lord's fury, make this excessively long story of old Hebrews fairly entertaining. Cast includes Stewart Granger, Wharf Angeli, Stanley Baker, Anouk Aimee, and Rossana Podesta. (154 minutes, 1963)
Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse OF The Black Pearl: Elizabeth, the daughter of the Jamaican Governor, has been kidnapped by the crew of the Black Pearl. She is needed to lift a curse of the old ship. Elizabeth's friend Will, who is completely in love with her, gets pirate captain Jack Sparrow to help him rescue her.
Hanna's War: The real tale of Hungarian freedom fighter Hanna Senesh (Detmers), based in part on her daily log, is a misdirected mess. The youthful, Jewish WW2 martyr warranted a far more superior production than this overlong, uninspiring melodrama. Cast includes Ellen Burstyn, Maruschka Detmers, Anthony Andrews, Donald Pleasence, David Warner, Denholm Elliott, Vincenzo Ricotta, and Ingrid Pitt. (148 minutes, 1988)
Nightmare on Elm Street Part Two: Continuation of first film's tale (set 5 years later) has an adolescent boy plagued by fantasies of the demonic Freddy, who is motive on taking over both his mind and body so he might murder all the town's adolescents. Hideous visual affects over power this horror film. Cast includes Mark Patton, Kim Myers, Robert Rusler, Hope Lange, Marshall Bell, Sydney Walsh, and Robert Englund. (84 minutes, 1985)
Batman Returns: The Penguin teams up with a crooked businessman, Max Schreck, to try and take over Gotham City. The Penguin is trying to defame Batman. Meanwhile Catwoman arrives on the scene. Batman must clear his name, deal with the Penguin, and try to figure out what Catwoman is all about.
