One of the best things about being a cigar smoker is the fact that you can try so many different types of cigars. You will be able to enjoy the great tobacco tastes from around the world, and this gives you many different options. However, do cigars that come from other countries actually taste different? They do taste different and the variances that they offer in taste are just one of the reasons that so many people smoke cigars and sample tobaccos from around the world.

You may wonder, "If tobacco is a plant and all tobacco comes from a tobacco plant, how can it taste different if it is grown somewhere else?" The answer isn't simple. You will find a number of different things that will cause tobacco from different geographic areas to taste different. One of the most obvious factors is the soil. Tobacco can grow in many places around the world, but the soil in each of those various areas is different. Some of the soil may be more alkaline, while soil in another location will have more acidity. This can be a large factor in how the tobacco tastes and how smooth it is.

The way in which the tobacco is cured after harvest has a lot to do with the taste as well. You will be able to find air cured and fire cured tobacco. The way in which a manufacturer cures the tobacco varies from region to region, and this can have an impact on the taste. Aging of the tobacco, as well as any added flavors that a manufacturer might add, are also factors that can determine the taste variances.

Yet another thing that can change the taste of the cigar is the size. The circumference of the cigar, also known as the ring gauge, is important. Even if you have two cigars from the same area of the world " even from the same manufacturer " if the ring gauge is different, the cigars will taste different. In most cases, the larger the gauge the richer the cigar flavor.

You should take some time to sample tobaccos from around the world to see what they offer. You might be surprised and find something that you like that comes from an unexpected place. Some popular types of cigar for you to try are those from Jamaica and Honduras.
